The Stockport Mafia.

Well, we all know that Dicker is a legend here already... i only put his name in to make the theme of this post obvious. No complaints there, no need for inquiry, an excellent player and asset for the club. Player of the Season?

Well anyway, the point:

In light of recent events as discussed in the Tiny Cox thread, the loaning out of Dickinson and Tunnicliffe and the relegation in pecking order of McNulty, I thought i'd share my thoughts on a minor, but maybe telling, incident involving 'Dicko' and 'Jimmy Mac'

on the subject of gus' authority/dickinson/jimmy mac -

as well as being patchy players at best, i disapproved strongly of their behaviour at stockport. you'll have heard the cheers they got from the home fans.

i happened to be in the home end (stockport fan mate whom i was visiting... he won the toss  ) where there was a cluster of juveniles playing up all game in the corner, which is fair enough in itself.

I had an unbeatable view of both players spending a few minutes each at least, chatting to the little (tykes) and signing autographs with big grins on their faces... whilst the game was going on and they were supposed to be warming up. this pissed me off quite a lot, and it doesn't show absolute dedication on either part...

i tried to stare daggers at them but as i was in the home end i would have just looked like the bitter spurned lovers... that a few of the local faithful clearly were!

much as they will have enjoyed their reception, which is understandable, i thought it was very unprofessional - they should have just acknowledged, smiled, and carried on warming up and paying attention to the match.

maybe yet another nail in the coffin, if gus noticed he can't have been impressed.

was the stockport contingent too many in number? perhaps they were all too pally and unfocused... lets snaffle the head boy and ship the rest out.

I disagree completely with your sentiments. Surely players should be encouraged to chat to youngsters (or indeed all fans) - it used to happen a great deal, now it's getting to hard to get them off their high paid pedestals. I don't care whether they're our fans or fans from a former club: the more players interact with the fans, the better for the game.

Absolutely ridiculous.

I know for a fact how committed Jimmy Mac is to this club. I think it is fair to say they are probably close friends, but then, is that REALLY harmful? Of course not.

And signing a few autographs? Heaven forbid...

I would imagine it is tunni being 4th choice centre back, McNulty needing a pre season and some form, Dickinsons constant boozing and lack of goals and Dickers consistancy which will explain Gus Poyets selection not autographs.

fair comments, i hadn't considered it from this point of view. though i think you are being rather general to presume all players are on 'high paid pedestals'. i think a lot of heart remains in football and there is no need to yearn for it.

cockle warming as it is couldn't it have been done after the match, not during?

admittedly, it occurs to me gus could have let them have a first half run-out, just for the purpose they fulfilled... as it was the first half...

oh well, thought i had a point there!

this thread is now about funny hats

If Zamora came back to the Withdean with Fulham, and some little twerps asked for his autograph would you be annoyed?

Which was it; were they signing autographs when the game was going on (which would be a bit naughty)? Or in the warm up (which most players do)?

I think Mr Livingstone has eaten his humble pie, no need to make him choke on it!!

I'm not very good at uploading photos so I'll have to grab a funny hat from a smiley

He answered his question without him posting a funny hat.

This is an outrage. I refuse.
