I lived in Jo'burg for years. Didn't pick up an accent although it took me ages to stop saying "Ja" instead of "Yes".

Tres embarrassing

I defy anyone to spend a sustained amount of time in a foreign country and not pick up the accent. I would imagine that he speaks a small amount of Dutch, but not enough to give a full interview. He is going to be surrounded by Dutch and the accent is bound to rub off or is this just an opportunity to lay into the man. The useless players got off fairly lightly, when it was eventually down to them to ensure we qualify.

what bollocks, he hasn't been in the netherlands anywhere NEAR enough time to pick up the accent

beckham doesn't speak in a spanish accent does he?

and he hasn't 'picked up' the accent at all, he's quite blatently putting it on

I think there is a pattern here of Mclaren trying to build rapport with his team's supporters, but failing miserably because it's always obvious that it's not genuine.

When he first became England manager he believed that the nation hated Sven, and that as Sven's ex-coach, he needed to distance himself from Sven. So he publicly ditched Sven's captain to show Mclaren was his own man.

In interviews as England manager he used to say the 'we must stand up and be counted' sort of stuff that a passionate manager would say, and no doubt, he thought us fans wanted to hear. Trouble is, he said it without passion, so it sounded false.

And now this latest farce.

I think he would do best just to shut up and let his talents do the talking. Oh.........
