Well at the moment 80 odd percent see things the way I do. However, I do agree with your previous post, both have done well for the club under difficult circumstances. It's just a shame that McGhee's reign deteriated in his last year with the club.

But you still haven't answered why you find the other thread amazing? :)

It's the rose tinted spectacles that some people choose to wear when they reflect on McGhee's tenure. I agree that he did a great job prior to the relegation season, but iot really did go downhill. Some people seem to talk about him like he's Shankly. At least your posts show a balance.

Another boring short term memory poll!

Who would I want in charge now....for me Mcghee......the guy did a good job until the board turned their back on him financially then he was used as a scape goat as he lost decent players and had to fill the gap with inexpiereince and youth.

Who acheived promotion and kept us up in dramatic circumstances...mcghee...

Wilkins is doing a bloody good job and has changed my feelings for him, he's assembled a decent crop of players who are working hard and getting good results...

But Wilkins hasnt gained promotion and kept us in the championship....given me a day at a play-off final......kept us in the championship.....given us a win at selhurst..............

So granted Mcghee's last 8 months in charge after xmas of the championship season-went wrong.....but I dont and will not forget the amazing job he did before everyone turned on him...BHAFC = Fickle united with short term memories

Wilkins for me, as he has proven to be more capable in the transfer window. Even when McGhee had the faith of the board he signed very few players. Oh, and the whole "he is coloured so must be a workshy" (Jarret, CKR, Knight, etc...) thing was marginally annoying from the Scots man.

It could be argued McGhee had more patience with Knight than any other manager he played under for more than 10 matches though, so not really fair.

Considering the talent he had, only the blind would argue that he doesn't have a self destruct mentality. Where is he now and how big an influence does he have two leagues below where he played for most of his time under McGhee.

Jarrett, done nothng since he left.

CKR has done well for himself but he WAS lazy when he was here. One of the most frustrating players I have ever seen play for us. he has bucket loads of talent, chose not to try too hard when he was here, for whatever reason.

CKR - lazy? Yes. Poor management of that - possibly.

I'd prefer an average manager over a racist (ooh, can I say that?). What percentage of the team were not white when he left? Compare that to most other teams in the league and the facts slap you in the face.

The last 6 to 8 months of Mcghees rein was horrible and i really didn't enjoy going to football, went to the home games that season mainly due to having a season ticket and did only about 4 or 5 away games after Southampton away.

Had only done 2 home games up until he was sacked the following season but was already planning on going to Millwall the next day regardless of who was in charge as had already had a ticket but obviously enjoyed it more.

Ok last season wasn't brilliant but did go to games where it was a case where we didn't know what was going to happen, Chesterfield and Scunthorpe are prime examples. Didn't expect to win there, and great days out.

Been to every home game this season and my faith has been restored with the albion with what Wilkins is trying to do with the team and went out and got myself that 12 game mini package for the rest of the season this morning.

That is an outrageous thing to say. Did he sign CKR, Big Mac, Jarrett etc. with the sole intention of cocking up their careers? Could it not be the fact that they formed a group and they ostracised themselves from the rest of the team?

Ps Thanks for that link you sent me - I forgot to PM back. We are famous!

Exactly, under McGhees reign, the standard of football plumeted, his tactics sometimes were as poor for even a sunday league parks side, and he seemed more keen on finding a scape goat than trying to get the players at his disposal to perform like our previous managers had been able to, for me, a manager who can't get his players to perform to such an extent that he is forced to sell them is an extremely poor manager, and I for one would have found it difficult to continue to watch the performances that his teams served up.

Wilkins has managed to get a good team spirit together with our players working hard for each other, and not doing what McGhee did and run down his players in the media, no wonder that they didn't put the effort in then is it

The other thread asked if people thought McGhee was legend or idiot. This is a comparison poll.
Now ask Wilkins or Adams, or may Wilkins or Taylor, or even Wilkins or Coppell.

Wilkins. McGhee did a good job for most of his time here, but his number was up. Can't people just move on, FFS?

Wilkins over the lot, actually.

Adams is a legend for what he did WITH BHAFC, and retrospectively would win hands down over anyone since (and a few before). Looking at the present though - Dean Wilkins is the man, and has all the potential to become a true Albion management legend, and walk as the first team member onto the new Stadium pitch (as with my prediction from last season).

Interesting that Adams HAS been available, and DK has stood by his man even knowing all about MA.
He's got his finger on the right pulse (and thankfully, for the sake of BHAFC).

How great it is to see this time in Albion history - at last the go-ahead for the new Stadium, with lots of planning to do, preparations and building etc., and to have the SECURITY of a manager for the team who is taking care of business properly and professionally.

I have not seen ONE slack performance from this team, no 90 minutes of frustrating clueless tactics slinging long high balls for a tiny striker that's put on the wing (whatever you think of Leon, that was a f'ing useless tactic to have to witness week in week out, and how magoo could stick with it incessently was outstanding in it's futility and stupidity), dodgy undermining talk about players in the press, disharmony on the field, and predictably inevitable poor results.

I am quite comfortable about Dean Wilkins as manager, even allowing that he might have occasional learning-curves to lean into, and 'some' tactics that won't work, and puts on subs only when damage has been done (an issue which I hope he'll address, but at least he doesn't apply same awful tactics for whole games week in week out).

Having spent little (less than anyone?) on players, we are seeing a good team to be proud of. :ascarf:

Thankyou Mr Wilkins.

When opinions are as polorised between fans about McGhee than any other manager has come close to achieving, I doubt it. Until Wilkins has won something. I personally believe he will and hope he's around for a long time to come if he keeps improving the team the way he has.
