And for those who use the "we don't have any money" arguement,

Money does not buy effort
Money does not buy commitment
Money does not buy heart
Money does not buy team spirit
Yeah, but it can get you some better players. You're obviously English - fans of the national team always seem to rate effort, commitment, heart and team spirit over skill, talent and ability (witness all the people on here who think Sam Allardyce would be a good England manager, eh Easy?)

Obviously effort, commitment, heart and team spirit are important - but if it were the be-all and end-all we could save ourselves a load of money by getting rid of all the pros and fielding a team made up entirely of NSC posters. I'm sure it would have all the qualities you want - but it would still get thrashed week in week out.

Utter illogical scapegoating from beginning to last. McGhee cannot DEFINITELY triumph over all the financial obstacles, he's a football manager, not a miracle worker.

We had a settled little squad at the beginning of the season, yeah?

We still have - only it has the same problems as it did back then, we have 2 or 3 glaring holes in important positions. McGhee has done his best to paper over those cracks with various tactical switches, but it is no substitute for signing the right players.

"Players that lack the skill and quality at this level will always and i mean ALWAYS triumph over 46 games if they stick together" - that is the biggest pile of nonsense I've read on here for some weeks, and that's saying something. Class always will out, managers can only do so much.

Winn yesterday and you have a signing paid for.

I know that we don't have much money and we are not going to win every game but by playing players out of postion is not going to help the cause, playing seb upfront yesterday was ridiculas! I think mcghee is a very lucky manager and hes gambles have payed off in the past and they aren't this season! playing virgo upfront last season was a master stroke but this year the gambles aren't paying off. I know we can't go out and spend loads of money on a striker but playing hart upfront would have been a much better option

However much you support McGhee or otherwise, surely you can't escape from the fact that we've lost the spine of a pretty decent team over the last couple of seasons, and for one reason or anther MM has failed to replace them.
Players of the calibre of Cullip, Virgo, Currie, Leon and even Harding(!)have at one time or another made a big difference over the last few seasons and now it looks as though Kuipers, who I still rate as an excellent 'keeper may be going to join them. Yes we've aquired a couple of good French wingers - who on some people's terms may be seen as luxury players - but the solid spine of the team seems to be the weakest I've seen it in many a season...:(
