it wasnt ironic cheering, Mr McGhee.

We paid shed loads of money for a season ticket which equates to about £22 a game and we had ONE SHOT!

AT cardiff we cheered till our heads fell off, on Tuesday we couldn't believe the inpetitued of the performance.

1st rule of football supporting.................cheer when we are doing well, get depressed when we are shit. Surely Mr McGhee realises this

Hear, hear!! Couldn't agree more. When the team is that inept how the hell can we find anything to cheer about? If Harty had started at least we'd have had his 100% effort to cheer us up.

"inpetitued"???

What McGhee doesn't realise is that this situation is deja vu for the Albion fans.

For Plymouth read Coventry. For Jake Robinson read Danny Marney.

It's not about being patient. The point is we can't afford our manager to mess about like Hinshelwood did. Crap formations and selections will mean crucial dropped points, and crucial dropped points means relegation.

Get your tactics right McGhee, give us a team with fight and we'll back you all the way.

And I agree with that man as well, particularly about giving us a team with fight.

I have paid £ 477 to sit in the rain with no facilities. He must realise people are entitled to express their feelings and stop tightening the noose around his neck with these unhelpfull comments.

I have paid the money for 3 season tickets to SUPPORT the team, although I will express a view that this player is not good enough I will still support the team through thick and thin. That is my right I have bought that right with the signing of that cheque.

We spent quite a bit of last season moaning at McGhee for being defensive, but his tactics won the day, and in retrospect I think we all recognise he was right. I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt. If you've still got your programme from Tuesday night, read McGhee's comments - some of the most interesting, informative points I've ever read in a match programme.

If I've paid £22 and we're playing shit then I'll moan. If he wants us to cheer then give us something to cheer about. Tosspot.

If we want a game of "who deserves to moan most", can I add:

Took a day off work;
Paid for me and two daughters (circa fifty quid);
Stayed at Travel Lodge overnight (sixty quid);
Petrol etc for journey from Somerset and back;
Plus incidentals!

Not much change out of a hundred and fifty quid, I shouldn't wonder.

McGhee doesn't necessarily want us to cheer all the time, he just wants us to show patience.

The simple fact is Mcghee is a great manager. He made a few mistakes (who hasnt?) but has done very well in his short time here. I wonder where we would be without him?? Would we have Malongo,Jarrett or Nicholas?

I'm glad he has criticised the home crowd- i would.

Lets just get behind him and the team- it will be the moaners bemoaning our misfortunes first if he resigns and we get relegated.

What Mark is saying is " I fully expect us to be relegated come May ". He has said this week " I am not suprised we have lost both matches and are bottom of the league ".

He when he is at home I am sure says to his wife " Och I will have a hell of a job keeping this team in the championship sweetheart, I only have 4 players up to this level of football .

We have paid top dollar for our tickets and want to stay up and the performance Tuesday was top shite, pure and simple. We were rubbish and the level of performance was not acceptable.

I hope we will at least put up a fight this season but the manager, McGhee or whoever really has no pressure on him as most football pundits expect us to end of bottom.

Wiil Hill have us 250/1 rock bottom and they are a good guide.

I will give it large and did Tuesday, its a shame the players didn't do the same.

If McGhee sets out his stall for a 0-0 draw tomorrow, he can't expect an easy ride. Brainless hoofs up to a not-very-good-in-the-air isolated frontman will get us no more rewards than it did on Tuesday. Should be interesting, to say the least.

Jake's scored two more than Marney already and he's a lot, lot younger.

Give him a chance and don't start having a pop if he hasn't scored a hat-trick inside 10 minutes.

Marney was a prolific scorer in the reserves.

3 goals for the reserves in 1999-2000, 2 in 2000-1, 1 in 2001-2 and 3 in 2002-3. That's 9 goals for the reserves in 4 seasons - the same number as Jake managed for that team last season in his first season for them, even though he was sub quite a bit.

Marney was a winger.

Come on you lot ffs.
We knew it was going to be tough in this division, lets try to enjoy seeing some 'big' clubs at Withdean.
Tuesday was frustrating, but McGee's admitted he got it wrong - lets hope he works his magic tomorrow.
Brighton fans are no different to any other fans - everyone gets frustrated when their team is not performing and gets on the players backs. But Withdean is bad enough without everyone having a downer after one half's poor performance.
Lets Remember these players were our heroes at Cardiff only 6 weeks ago & get behind them tomorrow, but remember the calibre of the opposition and don't slag them if things start to go wrong - it won't help them!

Up the Albion :thumbsup:

I totally agree. Talking of patience, I have little patience with people who walk out early as a form of protest, obstructing my view, and those who audibly slag off the players/ manager etc. I pay the same as everybody else to watch Brighton, home and away, and don't subscribe to the view that it gives me the right to shout abuse and adverse comments. I'm as disappointed as the rest when things go badly on the pitch but, personally, I feel shouting encouragement is far more constructive than the negativity that some people display. I know people are entitled to their views and criticisms can be made, but to slag off players during the match is counter-productive.

Well said Fran. I agree completely.

I always believe that if the team is playing badly you encourage them DURING the game but let them know what you thin k at the end of it by booing them off of the pitch. This gives them time to sit and reflect upon their individual performance before the next game.

I can certainly understand that.
Personally i've never booed an Albion team off the pitch - felt like taking it out individually with certain players but it is the managers job to give them a bollocking or drop them.
Whilst I do understand people slagging players, i've always thought it counter-productive, especially during the game as you say.

Brighton fans have had some great moments in the past 10 years, but for the manager to have to remind them to get behind the team AFTER ONLY THE SECOND GAME is not one of them.

Will McGhee's words have any effect? No, because the moaners are fundamentally selfish people who have no regard of the effect their moaning has on either the team or bringing down the morale of fans sitting alongside them.

I was going to say that success is the only thing that shuts these people up, but that's not true either, is it?

Last year, despite our superb run of victories at Withdean, I was surrounded in my block E seat by at least three different groupings of fans who would moan constantly during the game about Jonah, Oatway and their particular favourite, Leon. The comical thing was that whenever their moans about Leon reached a fever pitch, he would often do something great to win us a game. Then you wouldn't hear a peep out of them for the rest of the game.

But next game, having the memory and analytical skills of a gnat, they'd be off again until Leon silenced them again.

I'm convinced you can't do anything about such people, they weren't born idiots, but they became idiots and will probably die idiots.

I have moved seats and I'm hoping my new neighbours will prove more interesting and fun to be around.

Totally agree - makes you wonder why some people bother to make the effort, just to slag people off.

Well said, LI. Fortunately the people I sit near are only occasional moaners - i can tolerate that, but those who constantly moan and single out targets for their abusive outbursts really make me angry. however, you're right, they don't see anything wrong in their negativity and they are, as you say, selfish and, I must add insensitive too.
