According to todays Argus, Piercy, Dean Hammond, Dan Beck and incredibly, David Lee have from July to October to prove they have a future with the club.

He said he thinks they all have "something he could use", but at the moment what they have is "no use to me".

As expected, Geoff Pitcher has been released but Dean Blackwell and Simon Rodger are being "retained" to prove their fitness within agreed time periods following long-term injuries.

It also goes on to say Butters, Jones, Iwelumo and Paul Reid are expected to stay and McGhee hopes to add FOUR new signings to the squad.

Im sorry, Piercy in the same boat as Lee? Utter joke if that's true Piercy is good, Lee is f***ing shite. I'm glad i didn't get a season ticket next year, i'm not putting money into Lee's wages.

Bit unfair to brand Piercey in the same boat as Lee as he has a definite future at the club. One of the only players with time on the ball and an excellent crosser too. Lee should be put out of his misery now but Beck and Hammond now have a good chance to prove themselves.

Like the way he is talking about the 4 new signings and us doing more than surviving now. Hopefully some much needed creativity will be on its way!

Can't believe he says Piercy at the moment is of no use to him - He should give Piercy, Beck and Hammond another year and get rid of Lee.

Four new players.... One defender, 2 creative midfielders and 1 forward I guess

I am at a loss to understand the situation with Piercy. I think when he plays we are a better team

I think there are two factors (both based entirely on rumour) - the first is that he is a boozer and so is not fit enough for more than the last 20 minutes, and secondly that he is a bit of a Billy Big Boots.

Otherwise I agree, we do look better when he plays.

David Lee is simply a joke. I will be amazed if he ever does anything useful for the Albion. There must be better players, with more potential, who we are better investing our time and money in than him.

David Lee has had years to prove himself to several Albion managers. He has surely proved beyond doubt to most of us that the only First Division he should be playing in is Division 1 of the Ryman League.

Waste of money. Now watch McGhee complain he hasn't got a big enough budget. :shootself

I suppose at least this way he can keep his options open for the start of the season, and if something better comes along he can choose to ditch them at a later date.

A bit odd though

If Piercy boozes and eat kebabs at the weekend, that's his own very stupid decision - he still passes a ball very well.

As for David Lee...:lolol:

I've heard the rumours about Piercy too. I don't believe Mcghee feels he has nothing to offer at all. Just look back to some of the comments he has made on him through the season "the team has something extra when John is playing".
He is just giving him a kick up the arse to sort his life out, like he did with Leon when he threatened to drop him for the final. He is making some of the more arrogant players work for their money.

Once again Mcghee , legend. Remember it was him who sent the subsdown to wind the crowd up at Cardiff. one minute later we score the winner! He knows exactly what he is doing and i have total confidence in every aspect of his management

Including giving David Lee ANOTHER 4 months to prove himself. The guy is in no way up to Division 1 standard from what I've seen (which isn't a great deal to be fair)

Aren't we missing something about David Lee? He was acquired by a well-respected manager who saw something in him and now that his contract is up, another well-respected manager is not showing him the door but giving him a chance to prove himself.

When I've seen Lee, he's looked pony. But he obviously has something or he'd be out on his ear. What are we all missing?

Is Piercy really any use to him?

He looks good when he comes on but when he starts a game he is usually substituted.

I believe it was mentioned on here some time back that the players claim Lee to be fatastic in training, I know there is a big difference between training and a full game but if MM sees the potential why not try to bring it out pre-season?

Look at every single player McGhee has brought into the first team- and allowed them a few games to prove themselves.
El-abd - good back up for defensive positions
Virgo- what a fantastic season
Watson- brought him back to a decent form for a while
Hinshelwood- again decent cover in many positions
Roberts- he kept his faith in him and look at his recent form
McPhee- good cover for strikers
Piercy- didn't really get a sniff before, very promising (i think)
Oatway- brought him back to good form by giving him starts

By using existing players and bringing them up to a good standard, by giving them a good few matches in a row, Mcghee has strengthened our squad greatly without spending anything.

Lee is the only person it has not worked for, why not give him a few more months if Mcghee thinks there's something there

Will Packham said Dave Lee and John Piercy are the most talented players we have. I am inclined to agree with him. With Piercy it is obvious he has talent but I don't think he is using it as well as he could be.

There is no harm in keeping any of the players for pre season training.

Well, he was bought by Peter Taylor who:

a) Doesn't have a great record when it comes to signings (just ask Leicester).

b) knew him from Southend and had a "soft spot" for him?

c) exchanged him Matt. Wicks, who Taylor also simply dumped when he got to Hull. Obviously, the main purpose was to rid himself of Wicks rather than get Lee.

Lee was also not in the Hull first team when we took him (and they were a poor third division side then).

I agree with those who think this is a waste of 4 months wages.

I think I say something in David Lee away at Sheffield Wednesday.

I wouldn't say he was bad - just seems a bit light weight..., especially at Stockport.

Does anybody know whats happening with Jake ???
