Just checked out the possible line-ups for the game against Crewe.

Seagulls website says that Mayo may be called upon to slot into midfield!!! :censored:

For christ's sake, there must be more options than this!? It's just getting silly now.

I know we have a midfield problem, but there are alternatives.

McFaul, Martot? Maybe push Rents into a LW postition and let Coxy play on the right?

I don't know, but anything other than Mayo please Wendy! ???

i dont really like kerry mayo but, i prefer him in the middle and to be fair he doesnt do a bad job whilst he plays there not a long term option but better than loft or martot, i dont see changing the hole team around just for one postion!

Exactly WHY is Kerry Mayo such a bad option? At least he'll run his bollocks off for the team.

And has actually put in some decent performances in midfield previously.

I realy, really hate all the anti-Mayo crap from so-called supporters of our club.

I always had "ability to pass" as a pre-requisite for playing in midfield though.

Very simple...He's not good enough anymore!

Don't get me wrong I'm a faithful supporter of this club, and i'm grateful to Mayo for his service, but he's had his day!

Seconded. He's had that shite all his career, and still never stopped giving 400% effort for the club. Which is why some of us (most of us?) think he's great.

I am completely adverse to him being used at left-back. I think he is found wanting more often than not against pacy wingers.

However, I wouldn't be totally against him playing in midfield if needs be must. He is quite solid and perhaps will give us a bit of steel.

and joking aside he did start his career as a midfielder... a long time ago.

Why? Well how about having someone in the side who is prepared and able to use his left foot. We can't expect the opposition to continuously give us a break down the left just because DW can't get it together to play a left footed person on the left side.

I always had "ability to pass" as a pre-requisite for playing in midfield though.

Like all the other players we have around that position can pass. For the past few months, the ability to pass the ball as a midfielder has hardly been a pre-requisite has it? (Unless you count passing the ball backwards, we'll miss Hammond won't we)

I hope KM does play, and I hope he plays to an acceptable standard. Don't get me wrong, if he is shit, I don't want him in the side, but his last appearance, at Oldham, was regarded highly by the manager, other players and fans too.

I guess there are a number of fans who don't want to see him play, but for me he has always tried hard, he can play with is left foot, he can make a cross from the left, give him a chance Dean.

The best game Mayo has had in years was in midfield at Southampton.

Give him a chance.

He can definitely still do a job at our level*.

I'd never question Mayo's effort or commitment. If he starts in midfield he'll give it everything, that goes without saying. I just don't think he's very good. Hopefully he can make up his shortcomings through sheer workrate.
