Were awesome I thought, Paul Smith really owned that stage. Really enjoyed myself, what Do the other NSC'ers think ?

Mind you, some of the support was shat.

Maximo Park were indeed amazing. I agree to an extent with the support, I thought the band just before MP came on were dreadful BUT I did find myself warming to Pond (the aussie dudes) so much so that I'm checking them out right now. Top night apart from the shocking selection of beers.....Carlsberg or Carlsberg :nono:

I found Pond rather odd. A wall of sound and a front man who seemed disinterested to say the least. Crouching down with his back to the audience or lying down on his back and then just wandering aimlessly around the back of the stage.... rather odd. Who were the band between them and MP ?....They were a bit better.

I think it's all about taste vegster coz the band before MP (don't know who they were) were not my cuppa tea at all, even though they were very professional etc. I liked the rawness and randomness of Pond, although when I was watching them I didn't know if I liked them or not and decided to give them a listen when I got home to make my mind up which I did and gotta say I rather like them :)

I thought it was really odd watching Paul Smith do his thing to no reaction, as if he was imploring the crowd to give some kind of response. A bit of a flat gig really - Mystery Jets were better next door afterwards. Maybe it was just the audience or maybe the Park's time has gone, but the new songs didn't go down well and even Apply Some Pressure didn't get many people going. It could be the Dome.

They were absolutely brilliant.

Of the support acts I really liked Pond. Massively deritative but it was a lot of fun, there's a lot of good press about Alabama Shakes at the mo who I think sound like Reef wannabees but Pond did a very good stab at Led Zep/70s rock.

I thought Novella were balls. Tool of a lead singer, no tunes and a godawful cover of an Ian Brown song

Eugene McGuiness on before Main Act. 2 guys down from London thought MP were shite. First time time for me, i enjoyed them, but thought Pond were great, must check them out. Novella on first no stage presence.
