Gus is taking the plaudits for Albion's resurgence, and rightly so, but let's not overlook the magnificent job being done by his assistant.

Add Charlie Oatway to the list-his contribution is also worthy of a mention. It's a great team that's been assembled. Easily the best that I can remember.

Taricco was a cultured player, who, though slightly built, never allowed himself to be bullied. He was nasty when he needed to be. He has carried those qualities into his coaching career. He has been instrumental in ensuring that the players are comfortable on the ball and can compete physically, attributes that few teams combine successfully.

I second that. Without meaning to sound sentimental, it meant a lot to all Albion fans that Oatway and Hart, stalwarts from the darkest days of the club, were part of the team's victory at The Valley.

With all due respect, you speak for yourself there.

I'm sure it's nice for the pair of them, but I can't honestly say it meant a thing to me that they were involved. I don't really care who's doing the job so long as it's going well. Oatway seems popular enough, fine, and Hart has been great for the club in his time, but he's one of the most fortunate men in football to still have a contract this season. Still, as we're going well, we can afford a passenger or two on the bench I suppose.

Another 'This' to this post at this end. He could be making the tea and ordering the fig rolls for all I know.

So long as he understands the difference between Jaffa CAKES and biscuits, we are in safe hands.

Was a great podcast - I did hear that. But as you say, it shows they are a team but didn't talk about who does what all that much. Well worth a listen if anyone missed it.

Was it Comedy Steve?

Have to agree with you Edna - can't see why Hart is still here. Yes Harty gives 110% every time he is on the pitch but he can consider himself to be a lucky fella when arguably more talented players have been let go. Effort is no substitute for talent, you have to have a have a fair bit of one and give a lot of the other and unfortunately, Harty's best days are way behind him. Can't really see how he fits into the grand scheme.

I would think that Charlie Oatway and Gary Hart had some pretty good days with BHA. Werent they both signed by Adams before the promotion years and I am certain that Poyet (and Taricco) have good reasons to retain them both. And I am glad personally to see them both still part of the club.

Hart had five or six good little cameos in games two seasons ago when we were at rock bottom and struggling to stay up. I'm still not absolutely sure that deserved a new contract on that basis, but I could understand why he got one, and didn't particularly begrudge it even if I thought hearts were ruling heads somewhere along the line. But this time round is just a bit of a joke.

The poor guy hasn't scored a goal in about six years, so can't be considered a striker. He has no pace these days so you can't use him as a winger, and his tackling has always ranged from "tenacious" to "liability" within the space of about three seconds, so he's not much use if you need to get the ball back and chase a game. He was never the same player after breaking his leg at Peterborough, and that was years ago.

Think about it. Say we're losing a match. You know Poyet's lining up a substitute. Is there a single position in the current first XI that you'd think "I know, let's take him off and replace him with Gary Hart" and honestly believe that would change the game for the better?

I realise that saying this is somewhere akin to having a much loved fluffy pet hamster put down in some people's eyes- even I feel a little bit mean saying it-, but hey, it's just the way it is IMHO
