[Albion] Maupay Dropped

Anyone else heard this:

Apparently Maupay, Connelly and Ryan involved in full blown training ground punch up.

Broken up by Bruno who got a bloody nose in the process... 🥊

Is this a preclude to a joke about the Aussie, the Irishman and the Frenchman overseen by the Spaniard ? Sounds like a job for the UN to me.

Maybe Connolly ran down the left cut back to his right foot and scored totally out foxing Ryan who wasn’t aware of this move. Maupay lost his shit wondering why he didn’t get the pass so he could scuff the shot punched March who then tried to retaliate but couldn’t get a punch past the guy in front of him

Considering the outcome of the triple drop we didn't do to badly without them and you really have to praise Potter for firstly dealing with it like that , then for the team selection and formation against a very good team .

Hopefully the players dropped will come back in determined to make up for their stupidity and put in s stormer on Friday.

As a manager, How does the potter we have seen at Brighton compare to the potter in Sweden?

Its difficult to compare really... the football is quite similar, though this Brighton side is not (yet) as explosive as his Östersund side.

Everything else is very difficult to compare. When Potter arrived at ÖFK they were in the fourth division with an average attendance of 200 or so. For the first couple of years, he and his assistant manager (at the time some bloke called Brian Wake) had to drive around in northern Sweden to look for interesting players. Östersund is really isolated, so it was often at least a 12 hour drive.

He had to basically build the club. He made the connections with the British FA (they have some thing where foreign clubs can loan young British players for free) and with the Nike Academy where they signed a couple of players, he arranged trials over in England, recruited staff, implemented data analysis systems... And of course the yearly culture shows!

In the PL he doesnt need to do any of that stuff, its already set up, and he is dealing with spoiled, rich kids rather than people who are humbly curious about how good they can get.

Something seen both in Östersund, Swansea and Brighton however is the increase in the quality of the players. Plenty of his Östersund players - often rejects when he signed them - are now playing in big leagues. From the players who got their breakthrough in Swansea during the Potter season, Oli McBurnie (Sheffield), Dan James (United) and Joe Rodon (Spurs) are now in the PL, all getting signed for massive money.

And the tendency is the same in Brighton really. Lamptey signed for £3m about a year ago, what is his value now? Connolly and Alzate were nobodys, now worth plenty of money.. and players like Bissouma and Burn continues to improve.
