“I’ve got myself a massive step up from Brighton” is the bit that riles me. Are you saying he didn’t say that?

He was a first team shoo in here until he let in just about every shot on target. He is now at a club where he won’t get a PL game unless Leno is injured. Only a moron or someone with serious delusions could call that a “massive step up”

He was using provocative terminology and I’d imagine he maybe reminded of that when he returns. We’re bigger than him, well so is Lamptey so just let him have delusions of grandeur

Are Arsenal a much bigger club than Brighton, yes or no?

They are but Maty won’t be playing for them in the PL. Delusional by both of you

It’s the Poyet syndrome in a player, it’ll end the same way as it did for Poyet, except the only reason Ryan left is because he was no longer a first team option. Do you think he’d have agreed to the move if he hadn’t lost his place?

I mean, he's gone from being essentially being told that he'll never play for Brighton again to at least fighting for a place at Arsenal (and has even played for them in a PL game!)

That's definitely a step up.

He doesn't make any comments about playing. He simply states the fact that he's now at a much bigger club than Brighton. Is it that hard to comprehend?

Harder than you comprehending that he was being disrespectful to the team to whom he is contracted

Amazing how few people seem to have watched the video. If you watch the video, it's a very innocuous comment with no bad intent.

No it’s not and I have watched it and tried at times understand what he was saying as his English is poor. Using words that don’t exist.

He was barbed at best in his comments and could at anytime said some good things about his time with us. He didn’t. Came over as a typical Aussie, huge ego but tiny brain and in his case body.

This I get but it won’t happen

Should have said it? No, I don't think he should have. But I don't see how it's disrespectful. He didn't say 'Brighton are a tiny tin pot club'. He just rightfully points out that Arsenal are a much bigger club than we are.

If we sold Ali J to Ajax in the summer and he said the same thing, would you be offended as well?

Fair enough, we’ll agree to differ, his comments have pissed me off and you think he’s quite within his rights to say what he did

Sanchez is the new number one. It wouldn’t be good to keep a pissed off senior goalkeeper who’s just been demoted in the match day squads.

He had a route out the club, plenty of good reasons for all parties for him to move on.
This. Conspiracy theorists, move along; nothing to see here.

Are we still paying his wages?

I agree it was unnecessary. But I don't think it's a big deal. It's no different to Andone saying he thinks he should have had more opportunities.

If the sending off in the Saints game hadn’t happened, he’d be right too. Who knows how much game time he’d have got if that hadn’t happened

CH did not give him enough game time, relying on an ageing Murray. It worked, just. The CH end has been discussed enough though.

As I said, he didn't say anything that wasn't true and he didn't mention anything about us being a small club etc.

I think people are offended because they think he is making out he's above us, when in reality we were the ones that moved on from him.

But that's not what he's saying.

I don’t think he said it with an malice but easy to see how it could be interpreted badly, a mistake on his behalf
