We do have higher priorities but I'm sure the club are of the mindset that if an opportunity comes up to improve on what we have then they will grasp it

Let's hope one of the big 6 isn't about to try and offload a £30M CB in the next few weeks then - we'd never be able to afford a striker then!

not a great vote of confidence in Walton to bring in another ahead of him , unless his injury is much worse than has been reported so far & / or Ryan is truly on his way

Tinkering with the deck chairs in my opinion...

Easily good enough for us and PL class.

Recruitment isn’t binary.......getting a new keeper doesn’t have any bearing on other positions. If the opportunity is there for an upgrade, at the right price and with a good fit, it’ll be done for any position. Martínez would be an upgrade IMO.

Walton molten. Man is never going to play in PL for us. Been with us forever yet seemingly never gets a chance. Should do the decent thing and let him go somewhere he’ll be a permanent fixture. Feel sorry for the lad.

Not mine, because that money, which is finite, would be better spent on attacking positions. Even if it means paying a little over the odds to get them to down to little old Brighton. I get GP’s philosophy of building from the back, but now we’ve got 57 defensive players and keepers at the club, we need to look at the other two sectors. IMO :bigwave:

I’ve no doubt if the right striker is available we’ll SWOOP, regardless of what we do with the rest of the squad........

We’ve actually got 7 first team defenders - not 57 - which is why club are still looking for another full back/wing back - and that strategy of investing in (all over the pitch) young players to develop/loan - can earn us £m to invest in strikers or elsewhere or bring through into the first team for nothing. It’s been a remarkable success in last couple of years (Connolly, Molumby , white, Clarke etc etc)
So not sure why youre knocking it.

And there’s 23 days to land a striker. Laughable to think the club aren’t actively pursuing one.

I think the 57 comment might have been a joke.

Here to help.

Or DIVE? That's more apt these days for a striker!

This is one of those stories I really just don't believe at all.

A - Villa seem all over this and there appears to be far more substance linking Martinez with a move to them.
B - With our need to strengthen our striking reinforcements (although I'm very happy with Maupay & Connolly) to provide additional support , alternative options, and cover up front, I can't see us splashing around £20m on another keeper. Yes, more pressure needed to be put upon Maty, but I hope Walton will do that when recovered from his injury.
C - Can we really afford it? PB made it fairly clear the other night funds are tight with budgets being squeezed in this time of Covid, so if the Albion do spend any cash it won't be on another keeper - just my view.

The only additions I'm expecting might be 1 or 2 loan players in, and the departure of Bernardo and possibly Ali J on loan.

So...IF Maty left, how much should we get for him?
Any advance on ten mill?
