Let's face it every team scores pretty much every shot against us.

Ryan is still very very average though.

If he’s average, how do rate the other 91 starting keepers in the English pyramid?

Henderson’s save from Trossard was outstanding. Made a difference to the match.

Last season he saved 63.8% of shots faced, this season is lower but he's only had 9 shots again, 6 of which were goals:

2 were penalties (Jorginho and Fernandes who both have near 100% penalty conversion rates),
2 took massive deflections that were going right at Ryan until the deflection (Zouma & Rashford)
1 own goal (Dunk obvs)
1 Reece James screamer

Which of those would any keeper actually be expected to make?

Quite, that merely highlights our defence are in transition and under performing at this level. AND that our opponents are spawny gits.

Thanks for this. Saw some other stats on Twitter and was surprised to see him so low on the shots saved metric but this makes total sense.

Given his relative shot stopping prowess I remain surprised about his average penalty history. I’d expect him to get more saves.

From memory I had huge faith in the following keepers getting close to most penalties or even saving them:

Stockdale
Keeley
Beeney
Roberts

The rest I just accepted it’s a goal...

Let's give Ryan credit he's save ONE shot today.

Now let's be real.

2 goals .... 2 that Ryan should have come for and didn't ....

When are people gonna wake up. He's terrrrrrible

Nah. Both poor defending from the CBs. The second goal was a perfect ball in, was a homing missile to Mina’s head. If Ryan came it would be suicide with players that close with a ball coming in at that angle.

For the first goal, the cross was perfect so Ryan made the correct decision. If he attempted to come out for that one he would have been in no-man’s land.

For the second goal, MAYBE, but the cross was hit low and into the the area where our defenders were so I personally think the decision to come out there would be 50/50.

Pickford is the GK deserving of criticism in that half. Ryan has been fine.

Fair enough but is it a coincidence that near enough every bloody shot on target goes in. I don't know anymore.

I know I'm a negative poster. And I've calmed down a bit since yesterday with the realisation that we have some easier games coming up.

But

Can't most people now see we need to explore getting another goalie? Yet again 6 shots on target 4 goals. This is just getting silly now

You wrote this after Ryan made 2 fine, reflex, saves early in a game with proper biblical anti keeper conditions.

Also having just watched England's #1 drop the ball even you yourself would have caught.

That goes someway to explain why you have no valid opinion on this issue.

Stat brother do you have the stats on how many shots on target we've faced Vs how many conceded and then compare this against every other premier League team's record?

I would bet serious money we have the worst ratio.

Wasn’t at fault yesterday IMO.

But if he’d let those first two in, questions would have been asked, those were routine, even in the weather.

I think it was after the Chelsea game they analysed Kepa on sky and berated him for the amount of long range efforts he'd let in.

There was a certain Brighton keeper who had even worse stats.

Although I like Ryan, he does have his faults. I think Romero, now 3rd choice at United would be a good buy, although not sure on his wages.

Not only does he hardly ever make a save he doesn’t command space for set pieces. Shame he won’t be changed until next season.

Not going on a witch hunt but suffice it to say he has not impressed me at all this season.

and those questions would then be justified and valid.
