If he was unlucky that's ok then it went through his legs?

It did. But he couldn’t have predicted the ball would come at him that way.
It was a one in a thousand goal.
semantics though. We got whooped And Ryan had a very poor game. They all did.

I'm a big Maty fan but that was a stinker of a game tonight for him personally and the defence as a whole.

He's even passing it to them now - jesus should we consider Button for the next match?

No. He's still the best available keeper at the club today. But we need a much better number 1 challenger. If we survived, and AV don't. Heaton would be good. We have a great future prospect in Sanchez, but still to soon you'd think?

Ryan is steady enough but not great and a tad to small. Tonight he wasnt very good.

No where near brave enough tonight.

1st Goal: Not at fault, if anything Webster should've got closer before the shot was taken.

2nd Goal: Not helped by the statue of Bernardo but, should've been throwing himself at Jesus' feet

3rd Goal: Not at fault. Bernardo should never be allow Mahrez that much time to pick his spot with his left foot.

4th Goal: Totally at fault for. Easy shot to collect allowed to get away from him.

5th Goal: At fault for. Not brave enough again. A top goalkeeper would be taking both defender and attacker out to claim that ball, but from where he was, cannot allow the ball through his legs.

This.

Unfortunately the lack of real competiton for his place seems to have been reflected in his dip in form, and I'm not just talking about tonight. Maybe Walton coming back or a new addition of decent calibre in the summer will push him on again. Will forgive him tonights stinker because of the opposition - but only just.

I have been saying for a long time now that Ryan needs some competition. No player should be a shoo in every game at this level. He has not been in great form recently imo and tonight he had an absolute shocker.

That's the issue he's steady. Southampton beat Man C last week, yes they had heaps of luck but and a big but their keeper made save after save, Ryan is just not good enough to have done that. He never stops a shot like the first tonight or one to his side above his shoulders. It's all about what he doesn't do, he makes few actual mistakes just never pulls off the stunning saves. Added to that his distribution is so lacking in quality.

TBH if you're going to have an off night as a keeper you might as well have it in a game we've basically given up on before it even started

If Villa go down should we put a bid in for Heaton ?

Same keeper, just one is a lot older.

We’ve played City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Leicester and United in recent weeks and shock horror, we’ve conceded a few goals. EVERYONE concedes against the best teams. Ryan has been impeccable for three seasons. It’s incredible how short some people’s memories are. Bissouma was absolutely terrible in January. Now he’s a world beater.

I agree with that but the point is their keeper gave a performance we'd never get from Ryan. He is just not good enough to get to some of those shots.
