Brighton
I read somewhere about Southampton, Sunderland and Fulham were interested if that's the case I don't see him signing for us, I believe he would fit straight in at Sunderland.

Last summer Premier League Norwich, Premier League QPR, Promotion Favourites West Ham and free spending Leicester were all interested in signing Craig Mackail Smith, but the warmth of Gus enticed him to sign for newly promoted Brighton and Hove Albion.

Just saying.

well said, and we are hardly little old Brighton any more.... to be honest we are actually quite a good option now for players.... lets see what happens...

It doesn't look like Trotter is happening, my sources at Millwall seem to think he'll be signing a contract extension, failing that then a move elsewhere.

IF he does stick with Millwall then it shows he has loyalty.

Actually, I think TCB has put more accurate spin on it.

I'm not having a go at you for posting this though, not at all. Sometimes these things happen, sometimes they don't.

That's fair enough, I'm just saying at least it shows he has loyalty.

It'd have been a good signing (maybe it's still possible) but I think Poyet probably has his eye on someone better.

If he were a Brighton player already, I would be praising his decision to stay so it's not invalid. I hope Bridcutt does the same, if required. I think if we know nothing else, we know that Poyet will be looking at a lot of players. I'm sure we have fingers in many pies.

Not that I know of, Gus is in Uruguay as mentioned before so maybe there will be more progress on it when he returns, don't forget there are a number of clubs chasing his signature and in the world of football anything could happen but before Gus went it did look very close to happening.

Millwall are what I class as one of England's pointless clubs. They're never going to be good, they're never going to be an embarrassment. They will never get big crowds but they will never be tiny. Their ground isn't bad but it certainly isn't great. It's all just a bit half-hearted and going nowhere. Watford are another one in this bracket.

BHAFC has so much more going for it. If he would honestly rather run out at The New Den in front of 12,000 and hope to stay up again next season then he just doesn't have what it takes to perform at The Amex. No doubt about it.

It's posts like this that give Brighton fans a bad name.

I find this a rather arrogant posting. I can remember when Millwall topped the old first Division in October 1988. Similarly, I can also remember Watford finishing 2nd in the old First Division. More significantly, both clubs have also made it to an FA Cup Final and lost, a bit like the Albion.

Watford did bloody well to finish midtable last year and their time will come again. Millwall's home support is terrifying and they are, arguably, as unique a club as you'll find.

The "pointless" club finger could just as eaily be pointed at Wigan, Hull, Burnley, Blackpool - all of whom have made their mark in the top flight and beaten the big boys.

If he'd rather play for Millwall than run out at The Amex every week then he simply hasn't got the ambition we require.

IF he does stick with Millwall then it shows he has loyalty.
Or we might not have been in for him, in the first place.

This. Watford have had 2 spells in the top flight in recent years as well. We'd do well at this stage to emulate that, despite all our so called but as yet unrealised "promise".

You're talking about the past. And quite a long time ago too. Millwall and Watford each have a mediocre stadium, underwhelming support, no prospects for growth and will almost certainly be relegated before they are next promoted. Wigan, Hull, Burnley and Blackpool all have something going for them in my opinion. I'm not saying they're all bigger or better clubs than Millwall/Watford, just that the latter two are in my 'pointless' category. There are plenty of worse clubs than Millwall/Watford, but they just seem to be two that constantly flounder, offering little excitement. I'd rather spend one month under The Amex arch than ten seasons playing in Bermondsey. Some people need to realise that BHAFC are big time now, we're a SHOWBIZ name. We've got 22,000 season ticket holders, the best stadium in the country with a capacity of less than 35,000, perhaps the best chairman in English football and promotion beckoning. If non-descript players like Liam Trotter don't want to play for us, they're missing out on their one shot at playing with the big boys.

In fairness Milwall have an incredibly loyal and vociferous fan base and 10,000 of them at the New Den probably make more noise than double that number in many other grounds and can create a pretty hostile atmosphere - and it was even noisier and more hostile in the old Den!

Now that is arrogant! Perhaps it is only Brighton fans that think we are big, i dont expect we look like a big club from the majority of the Championship clubs, heaven forbid the Premiership clubs. No C.B i do not agree, we are not a big club, bigger than we have been for a very long time but untill we can keep hold of the "Croft's" Bennett's" and possibly "Bridcutt's" ( even Poyet ) we are still having our time in the sun, far from being a big club and you never know all it would take is a couple of poor seasons and we could become a "pointless club".
We should enjoy the ride but not get above our station!
