I hate Chelsea. There's a lot to sell about our club but we can't compete with their wages. Kinda stinks.
Hopefully he buys into what we are trying to do here.

If Matt O'Riley puts his career ahead of more money but less playing time at Chelsea, and instead signs for us then I will happily allocate my 24/25 player of the season vote to him.

Chelsea are everything that is wrong with the imbalance of the Premier League at the moment.
They are stinking the place out.
I love it...forward POTS voting 👍👍

Bellingham is a good comparison.
I watch a fair bit of Scottish football but not enough to know why he suddenly scored a bunch of goals last season.
Your comparison has instantly raised my excitement levels.
A question: why do you watch so much Scottish football?

If Chelsea are actually interested he will obviously end up there, earning double what he would here whilst barely featuring. f***ing pricks.

The notion that they sign players just to f*** with us gets less and less crazy each transfer window.
Yep, but it's up to the character of the person IMO: Lamprey, Gilmour, Duberry all chose us to have a better chance of playing.

all 3 of them were at bigger clubs but not getting game time. O'Riley is different. He is being linked with Chelsea and might think he could break in to the first team. He will only be in the same bracket as those 3 next season if he gets limited time.

Chelsea are like a greedy kid in a sweetshop. A genuinely horrendous club who ruin young players careers. Players dazzled by the salary. Bloated squad with players treated like commodities constantly being disrupted by the next big thing. I would love to see them fall flat on their face again this season with the manager sacked by Christmas. Nasty club continuously playing the system, horrible club with horrible entitled fans.

Habit from the Henrik Larsson days when they showed a fair bit of Scottish football in Swedish TV.

Just like I prefer watching a random Championship game over a random Premier League game (less so post-finding Brighton, but still), I'll often pick the Scottish league over PL. The players are human, they do dumb shit, teams have different playing styles, many of those on the pitch are more personalities than ballers... its fun. Less robotic.

Similar type of player to KDH which makes our approach seem sensible.
Scored goals and assists from midfield in a lower quality league.
Seems to fit the Fabian model for dynamic midfielders.

They really are a bunch of wankers, in their case the left hand knows what the right hand is doing and vice-versa.

He looks good but some of the defending he's faced is poor. We have members of this forum writing off Wieffer because he comes from the Eredivisie. Well, O'Riley has been playing football against a bunch of deep fried mars bars with legs.

I like the look of him in any case, I hope he can step up easily, and it's another HGP on the books.

If we go for him that pretty much confirms Buonanotte and Gilmour out.
