More underwhelming than O’Riley? Goal against City apart and he has looked way out of his depth, at least Wieffer looks aggressive in the tackle, O’Riley jumps every challenge.
For me, yes. But I understand Weiffer’s best performances have been away from home and I’ve only been to home games. In the home games I’ve seen, he’s pretty much moved between dreadful and, at best, an adequate defensive midfielder moving at snails pace.

MOR was excellent against City, and very good against Brentford, in comparison.

I thought the tactical shift to move him further forward was a mistake today - I thought he looked lost about what his role was in both the attacking and defensive phases.

Still feels a bit of an odd one. If he was any good why did Celtic sign him when he was at mk dons. And why did Fulham release him in the first place.

Different players but Wieffer looks a lot better to me.

Quite an ignorant comment. As though good players never come through lesser clubs, and no, Fulham didn’t release him, he turned down a senior contract and left the club wishing to play elsewhere.

I think O’Riley will become a good signing for us! Been out most of the season with injury and made big step up to this level. Needs a bit of time ! Cannot judge him ad a write off just yet surely!

Not his night tonight but he’s shown glimpses of class in his appearances so far. I think he’s a more useful sub at this moment in time.

Until Welbeck and Wieffer return, I think our front 6 picks itself:

———Ayari - Baleba
Minteh - Rutter - Mitoma
———-Joao Pedro

I think Baleba and Milner are our best midfield pairing this season.

However, Milner might be ‘gone’ now. 40 next year and injured.

We need some brains, guile and most importantly, experience next to Baleba. Welcome Tolisso who probably can’t wait to get away from Lyon now that Zaha is in the dressing room!

Not at his best today but has certainly showed enough previously to be given more than just the benefit of the doubt

I'd agreed with that broadly. With early changes made when necessary as all of those (with the exception of Baleba usually) can have a bit of a shocker from the start. I do wish he'd stick to something a bit.

I said before kick off that the lineup had all the hallmarks of rolling the dice a bit. But you can't really keep doing it every game.

I really believe in all the the players we bought but strong management means telling quite a few of them that they have to be patient and it may take a season or so for some of them.

I said it before, he's had a major injury and hasn't had close to a consistent run in the team. While it's fine to be critical of his performance (he was fine, in my opinion) it's impossible to judge him fully.

This rewriting of history blows my mind. At this stage, Weiffer’s been our most underwhelming summer signing for me, by quite some distance. And that’s saying something.
Utter garbage. He has probably been second only to Baleba at breaking g up opposition play and if it wasnt for that fateful pass v Wolves everyone would think he’d been at the very worst average.

Bit of competition in that department. Minteh? Gruda?
