Dale Stephens offered more pace and energy than MOR. Thought he was a box-to-box midfielder? One of the more experienced signings of the summer. Some ok passing and flicks. But dreadfully slow and a bit weak. Not convinced so far.....
Exactly this. Early days, I'll be honest, I'm a little disappointed so far but players need time. I think he will be an excellent signing.I thought he did well tonight, has a bit of quality to make things happen out of nothing.
He’s only played 295 minutes so far for us so anyone criticising him or questioning the signing is being ridiculous. Along with the other new signings, I think he will prove to be a quality player for us.
Nah. O’Riley looked shot, hardly surprising as he’s not been able to get the run of games he needs yet. I think he looks very promising.O'Riley and Mitoma looked angry and frustrated they were being taken off.
Agreed he was knackeredNah. O’Riley looked shot, hardly surprising as he’s not been able to get the run of games he needs yet. I think he looks very promising.
Agreed I thought he had a good first half….not many had a good second….Balegs seems to have gone off the boil since his sending off imoGood first half.
To me Baleba’s game just now has declined. The CM boss in the first few weeks, is giving the ball away and in a competition with Estupinan to make themselves wrong side in otherwise innocuous play, gifting counter attacks.
This is our style though. Been saying since the first home game of the season when Milner looked completely lost about where to position himself.Judging our central midfielders is borderline impossible, we don’t play with a midfield, Baleba kind of stays in position but otherwise it’s a total free for all. It’s alarming how often the middle of the park is empty, you have a look around and MOR is on the wing, or Ayari is just behind the forwards. It’s little wonder teams break through us so easily.
Yep. Baleba’s athleticism and speed cover a multitude of tactical and positional sins.Judging our central midfielders is borderline impossible, we don’t play with a midfield, Baleba kind of stays in position but otherwise it’s a total free for all. This is the only identifiable trait of Hurzeler’s football at the moment which is worrying. We run an empty midfield and when chasing a game just keep chucking on attackers hoping that something will happen. This is our style though. It works really well when we’re in total control of the game (first half), and less so when teams put us under any pressure or set up to break quickly, or as Brentford did last night, position their midfield in a row between our defence and attackers to cut out passes from the back easily (second half).
I just accepted the tactical limitations of our manager going into last night’s game, and enjoyed it much more
Well, quite. That and BVs slow build up.This is the only identifiable trait of Hurzeler’s football at the moment which is worrying. We run an every midfield and when chasing a game just keep chucking on attackers hoping that something will happen.
