The problem is when you see Milner huffing and puffing around where MOR should be, deep down you’ll know…
I'm not certain that is the case. We have only seen O'Riley (obviously) in one Albion line up, and he was playing as a number 10. We don't actually know that it WAS Hürzeler's plan to use him in CM at all.

He'd certainly have been a very useful option, though. I'd guess that O'Riley's injury will impact any planned loan for either Ayari or Moder.

It’s gutting and the way it happened crap. But I’m gonna take it for what it is. Injuries happen and this is why we have a deep squad. I’m hoping he’ll be back by Xmas - just hope really.

FFS, what a kick to the balls, such a shame.

If he requires surgery, what is it likely/possible they will do in surgery, is it like he has a broken bone that will be held together or something?

Crawley Town have now joined the very short list of clubs for whom I'd feel zero sympathy if they went out of business (the only other clubs on that list are Chelsea and MK Dons -- edit to clarify, Palace are *not* on that list for me, believe it or not).

So many players never get back to their old selves after surgery on their legs. Those six minutes might be all we ever see of the "real" Matt O'Riley.

This suggests it may not be quite as bad as we're all fearing. Fingers crossed...

Leyton, E10.
Can all the medics on NSC tell us how many months this could be. This thread has ranged from 2-9 months so far. So gutted.

I hate that Williams bloke.

As the player went in to make the foul, before contact was made, I said to myself “this is going to be at least 6 months”.

Hope that helps.

It's not necessarily a broken bone - it could be ligaments. I tore ankle ligaments a few years ago and they were pinned back together in some way through surgery. I should probably know what they did but I remember the words "pin" and "stable" and I've got a couple of neat incision scars!

Edit: I now see it's confirmed as ligament damage. No way of knowing how bad it is or if my experience is comparable, and you'd expect a professional sportsperson to have treatment that might accelerate recovery, but my own experience was 3 months post-surgery to begin light exercise, 6 months to do any kind of contact sport. I hope it's quicker for him.

I can believe that such animals as Williams still exist, particularly in the lesser levels where they have to use thuggery to make up for their lack of footballing skills.

What I still cannot believe is the referee’s decision that it didn’t warrant even a yellow card. Surely the authorities have to make statements on this.

It makes the beautiful game so ugly.

Ref was about 10 yards away and looking straight at it, no obstructions.
Incredible he didn't think it warranted any sanction at all, particularly when considering the cards he dished out for Sarmiento and Yari.
