Ffs. This would be annoying. Fact is that we can’t compete with the big guns. At least we are trying. I prefer these days to when Steve sidwell went to reading over us as we couldn’t compete.

it would indeed be annoying, not because he’s gone there, which would be expected, but because both liverpool and chelsea have basically waited until we’ve got everything sorted so they know what the fee will be before walking in and turning the players head.

i know the original tweet references that it is too late but there’s no such thing really. if the liverpool interest is genuine, he will go there.

It's the way they operate. Why would you need to do all the work. Think Spurs and the hijacking the Archie Gray deal from Brentford.

It's a bit like on one of those Attenbrough documentaries, where the Cheetah has patiently waited days to make a kill, used up it's energy, taken all the risk, then a pack of Hyenas walk over and take the prize.

Not a bad analogy but unlike the others mentioned Hyenas do have some redeemable features.

I'm sure we can make a much better analogy involving shell-suited scouse scallies in this case.

Most of the liverpool hijack articles seem to give a dramatic headline suggesting a hijack is possible, but then when you read the full article it says its too late for that to happen, a deal is pretty much done with brighton, or simply suggesting that liverpool should try to hijack the deal because he's a good player who Arne Slot knows but gives no evidence that it will happen.

Translating the original Dutch article, maybe the last line is close to the truth but less dramatic. It says Slot would really like him but the Sporting Director Richard Hughes is 'fishing behind the net'. Not sure whether that means they're too far behind to nip in or Hughes is looking elsewhere but does sound more promising for Albion than the top line.
