Yes and no……it was more a crass interpretation of how the club deeply assess character as well as footballing ability when recruiting…….
Most clubs do that as a matter of course, they dig deep to. The Peterborough owner was talking about it a few weeks ago.

I can’t believe people still bang on about the No Dickhead Policy. One of the most successful pieces of guff ever.
It was one comment by a short goal keeper. That's it.

To be fair I was referring to the entire concept. The amount of players who have acted like bellends whilst here/leaving along with how many players have had legal issues with us or after leaving us is a pretty good indicator that it’s not the most accurate.

Not sure that’s the yardstick. Players are capable of being great and of being dickheads. Caicedo was a great team player and humble lad when the three Ecuadorians were all together but turned into a total bellend when he got his new agent. Sanchez fought his way into the first team from loan at Rochdale but was then sulky and unable to turn up on time. Trossard was a good club servant who went the wrong way about getting a move to Arsenal. And then there was the guy who haunted Schoosh with his entourage.

True for coaches too. Humble Graham left us in the lurch mid season. Couldn’t talk to Chelsea fast enough. Replaced by a guy who turned the lights out in Ukraine once his staff were safe who went on to bad mouth our owner and sign Greenwood for his new club.

I think it’s completely wrong to say we have a no dickheads policy and it always makes me cringe. However, that’s partly because people change over time and partly because circumstances change people. I’m just as sure as you we do our homework at the time.

Which, to bring us back on track, I’m sure we are with Hummels (if he wants to come). People change as they age. Who’s to say he doesn’t want to put back in and mentor young players?

You say that, but then the club offices say different…

Regarding the 'No D!ckheads Policy'.

I know we don't want complete d!ckheads like the Joey Bartons of the world (think d!ckhead would actually be polite characterisation of him) but we've definitely had our fair share of d!ckheads play for us!

If they don't upset the balance and cause cliques etc, then I'm sure we can cope with a couple of them in the squad.

the dick head policy is a myth. Plenty of people on the outside think our players are DH's. When they leave we also turn them into DH's. a la Trossard, Cucu, Moises etc.
