If the future of football with VAR is going to be like this Women's World Cup then for me the game has been spoiled. A goal being scored is no longer enjoyable. I like to enjoy goals, I'm funny that way.

Not to be for the Lionesses but Sweden deserved to win the match and finish third at the World Cup. England players looked out on their feet at the end of the game - couldn't have given anything more in terms of effort but we need to do better in terms of concentration and talking to each other.

Roll on #Euro2021!

So England are ranked 3rd at the start of the tournament and finish 4th having lost to a Swedish team ranked 9th.

It's a par performance, but ultimately a failure (as viewed by Neville) since we didn't win the Cup.

But Alex Scott is still claiming a victory.

"What we have won is we have won back home. We have changed opinions."

So that's ok then.

...and here's Phil Neville with some more of his banal platitudes.

"The players came here and delivered everything I wanted - the style of play. This is sport. We have to come back in four years time and be better. There are many champions that have had to suffer before coming back. We go home, we dissect and we breathe and then we get back on that horse again."

Bloody Worthing!
For all the hype, the reality is that the England team has gone backwards (3rd to 4th). I suspect that the OBEs and MBEs that were being prepared will now be shelved. I'm not sure of the metrics but in terms of the money in the English women's set-up perhaps we are actually punching below our weight? I wanted the girls to win but the hero (heroine) worship that was being conducted by some parts of the media (eg Radio 5 Live) was getting a little out of proportion.

A wake-up call?

Well, quite. For all the media hype and hoopla which accompanied the increased support of the FA, what they were looking to happen on the pitch quite clearly hasn't.

When the manager describes a medal-deciding match as " a nonsense game", it smacks of childish immaturity, especially as they won that same fixture last time.

Having messed up the formation for the Semi-Final, it's time for Neville to be moved on if England Women are to have any chance of trophies.

What about the U17s? Not got the power and strength of the mens game, so by your reckoning..........

The U17s are not are they?

You don’t have u17 appearances /goal mixed in with the full team.

Girls football is enjoyable, but I have no idea why we are now comparing the WWC and the men’s.

Only slightly as I think they should be allowed within their own confines but not to influence the proper original game or teams.

Now tell us what you think about black people, homosexuals and socialists.

Actually, no please don't

That's not only slightly. There's a massive difference between that and thinking they shouldn't be allowed to play at all.
