Absolutely agree, still have lots of hope for Enciso in the future, but play him in the U21s if his decision making isn’t first team ready.

Hopefully De Zerbi will be reiterating the need to raise his head and see who’s free, he was the difference between a draw and defeat today.

I’ve seen some bad takes on here, but suggesting playing Enciso in the U21’s tops the lot I think.

According to both Sky and BBC, Jack Hinsh never got a yellow for his blatant foul. JPVH must have been given it instead. Absolute joke and the commentators have no idea. Media won’t mention it but if happened to Chelsea would have been overturned and apologized for already.

I thought it was for a grab in the oppo half to stop a break. Jack was carded wasn’t he?

I noticed there was a new tactic being tested yesterday. We pushed one CB up very high into midfield when pressing the ball with a full back tucked in at cb. quite often Webster or JP would be in front of the central midfielders trying to win the ball back. Interesting development!

Not new fella. Did that plenty of times last season.

I was also at the game, and recorded the bookings as a note on my iphone because, well, that's what I do and I wasn't sure whether the media would report them. I was completely unaware of JPvH's first yellow, so I've just replayed the relevant section on Peacock.
The TV coverage shows a caption for van Hecke's first yellow card BEFORE play stops and Hinshelwood gets his caution, so it was for an offence prior to that incident.
Going back to the Nkunku foul which led to the Chelsea player's yellow card in the 52nd minute, about 11 seconds before that he was blatantly pulled to the ground by van Hecke (which may indeed be partly why Nkunku reacted as he did against Gilmour to receive his caution). The TV coverage shows the replay of the Nkunku foul and then cuts back to live action with the ref talking to van Hecke still with his hand in his pocket. I suspect it was at that point that van Hecke was booked, for his foul on Nkunku (the TV coverage cuts to substitutions being made at that point).
I missed the booking live, probably because I was noting Nkunku's yellow, but I suspect we now know when van Hecke's card was shown, and why.

Yep. Agree with this. VH committed a bookable foul in that sequence and the ref played advantage. When play stopped soon after for the Chelsea foul, the ref showed the yellow card. Commentators were puzzled about the Chelsea player he was showing it to. I suspect it was actually aimed at Van Hecke. With that level of confusion, it might explain why JPVH thought he could get away with the lunge that got him sent off. Hard to believe he’d be that brainless if he knew he was already on a booking.

The yellow card caption later is probably a red herring. That’s just the TV company catching up after the 4th official had confirmed it was Van Hecke who was booked.

Yep but think Sky just took the American channel feed, Peacock even tho they seem all Brits on there apart from Howard. A non clueless channel would analyse the sending off red card, here’s the first yellow, here’s the second yellow but it looks amateur hour on there

It was helpful to understand from the co commentator that Jackson was awarded the MOTM not only because he scored but because it’s a position Chelsea had struggled in, during recent seasons

Just woken up after that very late night. Managed to watch until the end. Are people really getting upset over a red card in a friendly ? Bloody hell, there’s some paranoia on this website. I enjoyed the game. We played some really good football in the RDZ style. Encouraging performances from Hinshelwood, Pedro and Van Hecke in particular. Looking forward to the Brentford match after that and I’m usually not bothered about friendlies. Enjoy it ! It’s supposed to be a leisure activity !!!!!!!!

We need to sign defenders, no back up for Veltman, no cover for Estupinian. And even at cb we need more cover

Lamptey if he ever gets fit enough and probably Julio arriving this week. Milner can do a job if needed. Still could do with a left back.

Anyway, overall, lots of good stuff. Joao Pedro looks the nuts. Mitoma sharp. Dahoud fitted in seamlessly and can pick a great pass. Jack H a very tidy young player. Just great to see a team where even the back-ups slot in and look incredibly well-drilled. The future is very bright.

And Hinslewood and like to see a bit more of Andingra. We were without quite a few of last year starters and still

He’s technically brilliant, his decision making is dogshit. I’m sure it can and will be coached out of him and he’ll fulfil his potential, but it’s really frustrating to see him starting this season making exactly the same mistakes that held him back last season.

The attacking options are insane I cannot recall a time where we had so many of those players that get you off your seat when they are on the ball. We are going to give a lot of defenders sleepless nights next season.

Anyone know who our number 37 was in the second half? Playing left back or left midfield I think, ? might be Hinchelwood but thought he was wearing 41 (at least he was in first half I think).

Thought we looked the far better team whilst it was 11v11. Chelsea needed the sending off to level things up. Pedro and Undav are going to score a fair few this season

He has an annoying tendency to go for glory every time, get tackled, and then petulantly blame everyone else.

But then, when it works it’s spectacular.

We’re just going to have to be comfortable with him throwing out very varied performances. It’s often the case with teenagers, they can’t all be as consistent as Ferguson.

Decent game. Some positives and negatives. Nice to see that we've worked on set pieces. Joao Pedro looked excellent and should be able to play both 10 or 9 without issues. There was a massive Caicedo shaped hole though, they had way too much time and space outside our penalty area and didn't have to work too hard to abuse that weakness. Going to concede a lot of goals if we don't have a ball winning DMC.

Can't be too disappointed with that, for a first run out the lads played quite fluently. Really impressed with Joao Pedro, he looks sharp. Attack and midfield looks well stocked, we'll be signing some defenders.
