Sounded on the radio that Burnley despite all their shots , on or off target only had one decent chance and they took advantage of it.

Where did you get that stat from???

Gus says 20 shots 2 on target.

Gus Poyet felt that his side missed a great opportunity to boost their play-off chances, after going down 1-0 at Burnley.

The Seagulls remain sixth in the Championship tonight but will drop out of the play-offs positions regardless of the result in the game between seventh-placed Middlesbrough and eighth-placed Cardiff City tomorrow afternoon.

The Albion boss told seagulls.co.uk, "Today was a great opportunity to win the game against Burnley. They had quite a few injuries to their squad and it was a game that we had a great chance to win, but we didn't show enough quality.

"We planned the game differently and sometimes we understood what we wanted to do but not all of the time. We needed quality out there today and that cost us.

"We were the better team but then we conceded and after that we were chasing the game. We are still in a good position, and who knows what can happen during the last five games, but we have had a bad day today.

"We had twenty shots but only two were on target. That shows that we were not good enough with our final action. We were not always doing the basics and I'm sure that someone will learn a lesson from that."

This afternoon's clash did mark the return of Irish midfielder Gary Dicker - after almost six months out with a fracture fibula - and Poyet was pleased to see him come through 90 minutes unscathed.

"With the system we played today Gary has the best understanding. He deserved to play and he was one of the only players during the first half who was creative on the ball, and he was the one who kept finding Vicente at the right time and in the right place.

"He started getting a bit tired because the game became open but we had already made the three changes.

"We were not good enough, but that's football and we need to try and correct it on Tuesday night, We'll see where we go from now. When the season finishes every team will be where they deserve to be after 46 games, so there will be no complaints."
