Get there before they put the barriers out, forcing you out through the barriers, out of the station then back in.
That's really early though, they put the barriers out at least an hour before, more likely 2.

Be at Brighton Station around 12,or a bit before and no worries.

I'd take the back roads and grab half's in the Brighton Beer Dispensary and the Lion and Lobster. Then take a stroll up the sea front, probably cutting up when you get in to Kemp Town. Loads of decent food options there.

I love arranging piss ups for strangers.

Arranging piss ups and grabbing halves? ???

Kick off is 12:30 so probably want to be a bit earlier than that!

Find out their persuasion then go to either Platinum Lace or Dukes mound accordingly.

Hello fellow NSC'ers...

I have a very important US client coming to the UK this weekend, it's his first time here and I am taking him to the game.

He is arriving into Gatwick at 08:40am and I am in two minds about driving/train to get to the AMEX and what to do afterwards, what would be your perfect pre match/post match routine if your showcasing Brighton and the UK to a newbie?

I normally drive down to the game and walk from Wild Park but am thinking breakfast at the Marina, Racecourse P&R and then venture into the laines or the Pier for Fish and Chips afterwards?

Any advice appreciated.

How important ? is his name Donald ?

Train down. Generally Americans can't drink but can eat so walk through the lanes to sugarloaf and have some tea and cake. Quick butchers at the pavilion, walk past theatre royal and or the dome, meander through north laine, have traditional pint, back on train.

Or go to Lewes, breakfast at Bills and onto the ground. Get there early and you'll get in Dicks bar. No point trying to get a drink anywhere else before the game.

EDIT.
If he is arriving at 8:40, what time will he actually get through passport control and collect any luggage, possibly another hour on top! Also, if he has luggage, what are you going to do with it as I'm sure it won't get the bag check at the ground!!

If he arrived at LGW for 08:40am BST I reckon by about 4pm he'll struggle to keep his eyes open and will be wanting his bed ....
Guess it depends on where he flew in from - is it what they call the "red-eye" flight?

Maybe, drove down, waited for hours in a roadworks related queue at Valley Gardens, paid a kings ransom for a days parking in the North Laine car park, got taken to the zero hygiene rating chip shop just up from the station, was secretly supporting Spurs during the game, was walked past every homeless tent in town, was taken for a night out down West St, lost big at the casino and mistakenly taken to Dukes Mound instead of Platinum Lace

Business relationship ended.

Sorry chaps, haven't been on NSC for a while.

Client was happy I collected him at the airport after a flight delay and he was had purchased a home shirt and had it shipped to Vegas!

We went for some breakfast in the lanes, got to the ground early and had a drink there. We ended up going to a country pub on the way back to Gatwick.

Thanks for all for the suggestions though, he is now an Albion fan for life!
