Jim White and Simon Jordan discussing mascot packages on Talksport now (classic winter break stuff LOL) - Albion to the fore as Paul B 'coming on shortly' to talk about it...............clear narrative so far is White trying to make an issue out of the cost. Think we can guess the PB response..............:lolol::lolol:

Jim White: Yes...

Jim White: Right, but...

Jim White: But, but...

Jim White: Look, okay...

Jim White: Sorry to interrupt you, Paul. Just need to go to an advert break...

Did Simon Jordan mention how much the Eagle and his handler are charged for each Palace home game?

Here goes............for the many who can't stomach listening to Jim White (or Paul for that matter :lolol::lolol:)........a summary :

-Albion/Amex student campaign/competition.........bringing three students from Sport & Business in to see behind the scenes.......could be in any function
-Mascots - £350 for captain, £250 for other players and 2 free places by ballot - why not make them all free ?
-PB - demand. Package is good value (food, kit, pics, parking, tickets etc etc etc), sold out for the season - big demand. Keep a couple free for Young Seagulls (free)
-Away mascots are free, other special cases included
-Some clubs up to £700, even PB thinks that's too much.......
-Kids treated like 'royalty', feedback is very positive. Jordan agrees VFM is there and (reluctantly LOL) thinks Brighton have got it right - but not at £700 without kit (club not named ?)

Next bit might be more interesting as covering on-field stuff, Potter, league position etc - seems PB is going to be in the studio for a while ................

My only complaint is that the club don't seem to announce the winners of the somewhat-mythical draw (or how many junior members we have these days).

Pretty sure we did this a while back.

The usual candidates ripped into the club.
The above details came out.
The thread went quiet.

In fairness, the club haven't changed the majority of this (though getting Dalglish in for every game seems a little mean for all involved).

As a kid (and Junior Seagulls member) I got to be mascot at the Withdean. There was two slots to be mascot at the time - one for a Junior Seagull and one paid. A truly memorable experience (Charlie Oatway treated me like absolute royalty).
Now, there are two free slots instead of the one and what you get is a much higher value product than Leon Knight doing a pre-match dance in a portacabin. As long as the club retain at least a couple of free spots it remains a non-issue for me.

My son did win a mythical draw place in our promotion winning season. He had a great day. :clap2:

Not sure how they could announce the winners with it sounding a bit crass. Here are the 9 mascots who paid, of whom Billy paid the most as captain's mascot, and these two got it for free...:D

I didn't even know the draw still existed until a friend's son won a free spot in the last season we were in the Championship.

*EDIT* Now I'm wondering if I know Bold Seagull after seeing his post above mine!

A quick news story post-match wouldn't hurt.

Afaik, the club has never given any detail on the free spaces. When is the draw made? Assume it's cancelled when the club awards the spots to sick/disadvantaged children? (Can't object to that)

If the club is going to promote the free spaces as part of the defence of charging everyone else, there should be some transparency imo.

My son did win a mythical draw place in our promotion winning season.

Different world back then, btw. WAY more demand now we're in the Prem.

It is still on the club website: https://tickets.brightonandhovealbion.com/en-gb/categories/mascots

Two mascot places for each home league game will balloted for each home league game from our registered 2019/20 Young Seagulls Members.
