Hope it is more technically accurate than what has gone before but knowing Spielberg it will a tale of how the Mighty 8th came over and saved the bombing campaign - I'll bet we don't get any mention of the RAF or see a Lancaster.
But don't forget the U.S. of A won both wars single handed and we should be forever grateful for them saving our Limey asses and freeing the World of tyranny!

I can’t wait for this. Band of brothers is my favourite show ever made.

Slow horses is great but the last episode of series 3 was a bit daft, I thought.

Apple also have the sensational Ted Lasso.

I really enjoyed Band Of Brothers, but found The Pacific disappointing in comparison.
I disagree - The Pacific was a superb series. The production, the acting, the effects....absolutely incredible.
BoB is my fav all-time TV series - it was just so groundbreaking & brilliantly done...but if they had been released the other way around, would you feel the same?
Maybe thats why you found The Pacific disappointing, as it didn't have that wow factor following on from what they had done with BoB?

Would love to watch Masters of the Air, but we dont have Apple TV atm

My TV pod guys have had the embargo lifted and said of the first two episodes:;

'its good but the CGI takes you out of the show'.

They wondered whether the pay off for being 'big' was worth the effects.

I've watched The Pacific a couple of times now. My word it is grim. I'm sure it's historically accurate but it really is a hard watch (because of that). Important to see but not really entertaining. edit - I watched it all again a second time a few years later thinking perhaps it wouldn't be such a slog.. but it was.

This sounds a shame and not unexpected from the trailers. But then again there is no other way to recreate these events.

Not sure how they are supposed to recreate air battles without CGI.

Not sure how they are supposed to recreate air battles without CGI.
That was the wider debate they touched on.

Does the story have to be reliant on battalions of planes which can only be done with CGI?

Obvs I've not seen it yet but they were alluding to the required CGI to tell their story was enough to take them out of the moment.

Also referencing Memphis Belle (not seen that since VHS days) as a similar story told less flamboyantly but with use of an actual plane.

To me they spoke as it was good but won't age well - we shall see.

I can’t stand the yank bantz between the characters.

Let’s show them dang krauts who we are and get back in time for a kiss with ma lady and a big ol’ slice o moms apple pie.

Even worse when they try to do pathos.

I don’t know what I saw, we got a long road ahead of us.. etc etc

It’s why I could only watch Band of Brothers the once. Great stories, terrible dialogue.

Special effects were passable in my opinion.

Acting was terrible.

And us Brits were portrayed as some sort of Hobbit race.

When the plane lands at the airbase, we chatter and dance with glee as if it were fireworks night in The Shire.

Shame.

Slow Horses is great. And this has potential to be fantastic.

There’s some good stuff hidden away on Apple.

It’s my “seasonal channel”

I subscribe for two or three months a year to catch up on their good content and then bin it off again. Usually switch over to Disney for a while.
I've just resubscribed with a 3 month free trial. My girlfriend and I take it in turns to pick up the free trials.

I'll definitely give Masters of the Air a try. We're also 3 episodes into Criminal Record with Peter Capaldi. Enjoying it so far. All 3 series of Slow Horses have been fantastic as well.

I'm hoping Severence comes back soon too. I saw a teaser ad for the second series yesterday, so maybe it's not too far off. I'd recommend it, even though it's very slow in the first couple of episodes of the first series.

The Clamp has been a bit harsh but MOTA isn’t great so far.
There is a grittiness to Band of Brothers, that is absent in MOTA.
It’s too stylised. The actors are too pretty. Too many perfect shots with the sun breaking through at the ideal moment. The dialogue too cheesy. The special effects are predictably impressive (in a Top Gun kind of way) although they are no substitute for compelling stories.
But there Is a reason the air force features in the third series, and not the first - the WW2 ground campaign just makes for more compelling telly. And BoB (and Saving Private Ryan) told those WW2 stories in a style that was groundbreaking at the time.
MOTA will be worth watching but it is not in the same class as BoB. That‘s no disgrace - it never could be.

Any chance of a link for the 3 month free, I can only find a week at best?
