That's how it sounded to me too, but as someone stated I guess we hear what we want to hear.

The residents/protesters don't seem to think much of her and the councils efforts either.

Precisely why there's no point her going - would we have welcomed Archer coming to see us after the Shoreham disaster? No, we wouldn't and a Tory PM visiting them is on a hiding to nothing too. People have prejudices. They don't change. And they surface during times like this. Angry people don't listen anyway. And just because you're angry and shout a lot doesn't give you the right to abuse the democratically elected head of our government. Already people are saying £5m isn't enough. Before they were saying nobody in govt. cared. Now it's not enough. What about all the other charities and social care that needs? Was she supposed to say here's £50m out of no where? £5m is an amazing amount of money. With public donations added it's a huge amount. Although reports of £300m held back by local council doesn't sound good in the circumstances.

Yep, and that's not a settlement, this is to put money in peoples pockets now to help them out of trouble. Shared out between 120 flats/families is about £40k each.

Terrible interview by May , still trying to deflect blame
Was she supposed to take the blame and accept responsibility? I didn't realise she was the safety officer of all high rise blocks.

Responsibility , culpability and accountability are all different.

Theresa May has one of the above for this tragedy. Argue amongst yourself which it is.

She has and had the power to to force through changes in building safety or at least appoint a housing minister who would. Accountability.

Taking theee days to meet residents and provide an emergency package and statement. Responsibility.

Culpability? One we cannot prove but we can angle. Does turning a blind eye to warnings make a person culpable?if they are in a position of power? Whether or not these safety warnings passed her desk (unlikely) we will never know and to say it did would be conjecture.

Very much accountable at the very least. Similarly as the London/Manx attacks.

If your players are not doing the job but you picked them, who gets the sack if results are poor?

I just think that anyone like this fool 'Ernest' that want to blame one person and one person only have some intelligence missing in their lives. What a fuc*ing fool you are Ernest. What if this happened in Camden, Mornington Crescent, with the three big blocks there. Labour council, Labour MP, still the fault of one woman? Or, wouldn't we hear from you? You really are that stupid and I offer you idiot of the year 2017.

1. So did another party from 1997 to 2010 have the power to do so?
2. There was plenty of information available from day one. The Queen, the PM and the opposition leader have since been there, within a day.
3. Do you really believe, even in our worst dreams about politicians, do you really believe they care less about something like this?
4. Accountability lies with who? Are you precluding a public inquiry? Do you know what happened?
5. I am bored now and you are an arse.

These are synonyms for dignity: stateliness, nobleness, nobility, majesty, regalness, regality, royalness, courtliness, augustness, loftiness, exaltedness, lordliness, impressiveness, grandeur, magnificence; ceremoniousness, formality, decorum, propriety, correctness, righteousness, respectability, worthiness, honourability, integrity; solemnity, gravity, gravitas, reserve, sobriety, sedateness, composure.

How many can be ticked of for Theresa May's response and respect for those who died or suffered in this awful incident?

I'm glad the government have offered aid to the surviving residents, I despaired after that story of the girls who had to sit GCSE's in their night clothes as it was all they had to wear. To be fair to the government it does take a little while to sort these things out.

What has been great has been the response from the public with donations and offers of help, much like the stoic way we've dealt with the terror attacks, I hope that out of these dark episodes we might just get our divided nation working together again.

its just struck me, its only two days ago, little over 60 hours. so much said and done seems like its been a week or so. how condensed time has become.

This, What has Theresa May got to do with this, she only came prime minister in July 2016.

Sadiq Khan as London Mayor seems to think he runs London these days but does not seem to be taking any responsibility or even Boris Johnson who may have signed the papers for the refit in his role as the city chief.

The left now seem hell bent on destroying any tory government and are becoming crazed in hatred.

i heard the speech from May, I cringed. As a Tory I hate her, she has absolutely no media savvy. Her way of dealing with any situation is without sincerity in its approach she is a disaster .

However the action of the government is what one would expect and no different from any other.

The inevitable Socialist Worker banners prove that some people never miss an opportunity to kick up.

The poor victims will get forgotten in the up coming battle of political supremecy.

really sad to see these idiots hijacking the grief of these poor people to push on their agenda, actually its quite obscene.

Incredible that any Brighton fan would condemn the protests. We were going to lose a ground, community, identity and fought like tooth and nail including direct action. These people have lost everything, homes, possessions, children and they're somehow being duped by the hard left?

F*** off and have a long word with yourselves in the corner.

For your information my work mate was in London today. The families in Kensington have every right to storm Kensington offices for answers.

The morons he saw hanging around Whitehall with communist party, Socialist workers and Labour banners which some had written "justice for Greenfell!" in pen beneath such mild phrases as Tory scum, death to Maggie 2, rich toffs must pay in cash or blood, give us houses pig ****ers and other masterpieces like this really are scummy opertunists.

I love my club and marched for our new ground but that does not compare to this mate, so I suggest you go and have a word with yourself and indeed **** off.
