It is going to be hard to compare with Potter seemingly somewhat workshy at the moment.

Maybe he is waiting for England, but that won't be comparing apples and apples.
I don’t know but maybe his severance terms with Chelsea were such that while he is out of work he is earning twice as much money as he would be working elsewhere. I don’t blame him waiting for the right job in the right place to turn up for him, especially if it is at Chelsea’s cost.
He does appear more of a Southgate than a club manager. He thinks and studies a lot. I think he might do well at International football but it would take him away from his family even more than it has in the past, although, like Ron Greenwood, one of his predecessors, he could still base himself in Hove.

I'm not seeing that. Being England manager (or any other International job) is practically part time. Sure you'll be away during International weeks and tournaments, but in between that, all you're doing is mincing along to a few PL games here and there. I bet Mrs Southgate is absolutely sick of the sight of him, and probably welcomes these tournaments every couple of years when she can get shot of him for a month or so.

I suspect the role is wider than that and includes a lot of trips abroad scouting opposition and alternative coaching methods, and doing a lot of influencing/persuading the FA hierarchy of what they should/shouldn’t be doing to impose themselves on the game in this and other countries.

Our Jon Dahl Tomasson didn't even bother to move here, he stays in Denmark. No big deal really, our players are all over Europe anyway.

Incredible double standards. Washes his hands of any judgement on Greenwood as he says he is not qualified and then says he can't imagine the 18 months Greenwood has gone through. Disgusting comments and he is rightly being harangued!

Who would've thought...

I was hoping he’d keep his head down, especially with this, given the wife beating charges Barton’s now due to face.

“We all make mistakes”

Well given Joey’s recent legal history you’d think he’d be a bit more cautious about making mistakes

Well the new Irish manager is already in hot water over the fact that he met with Greenwood in an attempt to get him to switch to Jamaica and then portrayed him as the victim when asked about the meeting.
Perhaps this won't surprise you, but he was in charge of the national team in 2017 and was part of the cover up with Sigþórsson that caused the whole Icelandic FA to resign in 2021.
