Will he be allowed out the country now? Will Qatar allow him in?
Isn't what he allegedly did be considered fairly normal behaviour towards women who didn't do what they're told over there?

(More to the point, is there the remotest chance of him being picked for the England squad at the moment?)

Southgate hasn't touched him with a shitty stick since him and Foden were caught in the England team hotel poking a couple of Icelandic tarts during lockdown. I very much doubt he'd have been in the picture for Qatar, even without all this.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against the defendant are active and that he has a right to a fair trial.

“It is extremely important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice those proceedings.”
Shirley simply reporting is fine?

No, it just means the CPS believe the evidence is considered sufficient for it to go to trial.

With respect, isn’t what people imagine to be the case, just what is being advised not to be posted on this thread?

Yeah fair enough. Must confess I don't know how the court system works.

At this point I should say I misread the headline as Mason Mount hence the Qatar comment. I am an idiot.

Always amazes me that something reported in main stream news, and subject to millions of comments thereafter worldwide, gets the NSC police jittery simply for commenting on this?!!
Exactly…… I reckon Sky Bet would love to set odds

Always amazes me that accusers have the benefit of anonymity, whilst the name of the accused is made public knowledge before he's been convicted of anything.
While I agree in general with the point you're making, I don't think it's the case with Greenwood. The woman in question is his ex girlfriend who posted pictures and audio of the alleged abuse on her social media. There was a thread about it on here at the time.

But that's not the case in this instance. I'm not going to repeat it here but her identity is widely known.

Fair enough, I didn't know of her. But I've seen many cases whereby an 'ordinary' mans life (ie not a famous footballer or celebrity) has been ruined before he's been convicted of anything, thats what I was referring to.

Kind of irrelevant anyway because in this case the person has been suspended for 7 (?) months now. Bit like the unnamed player at Everton which everyone knows

YES - his name has been in the media right from the off. Right from the accusation. Largely because of who he is.

But I've been reading the coverage today in the print press, and guess what - not a SINGLE mention of the accusers name.

'Janet Potter, the deputy chief crown prosecutor for CPS North West, said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has today authorised Greater Manchester police to charge Mason Greenwood, 21, with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

“All three counts relate to the same complainant."
[/I]

If the accusers name remains as 'the complainant' then IMO so should the defendants - albeit I accept this is more difficult if he is famous. But the same rules should apply regardless.

I know some victims of sex attacks and what they have been through is horrific , so not sure telling the world is a good idea or would help them with what is a terrible ordeal.

Can’t get my head around that way of thinking at all
