Suprised unless its mentioned in other threads, how good Emnes was yesterday, Think it deserves a seperate thread for this opposition player.

Yesterday i though he showed the best complete performance of an attacking player yesterday.

Mccormack was good as was Trotter but Emnes for me shaded it and would be an ideal signing imo if we were to shade borough and go up next season!!

Yep, very impressive. As was Jutkievitz (SP?), who's impressed me all season, his strength is incredible even for a target man, and very good feet to match. Vokes is a decent player, but Jutkievitz is clearly an upgrade, but then you'd expect so for £1m.

Not many opposition players ever stand out for me with my tunnel vision for just watching our own players when we're on the ball or defending but yesterday Emnes stood out by a country mile class act , if we go up & boro don't please can we sign him

It amused me that when his name was mentioned as he was substituted, he got the customary 'Who?!' response from he home crowd.

Our defenders certainly knew who he was by the end. What a player.

Valid point.
I thought at the time we'd paid well over the odds for CMS, but the fact it was such a big and suprising signing I think many (including myself) got carried away and went with it. He's a good player, but not worth near what we paid IMO.

We got up and applauded when Emnes was replaced.
We were just delighted he was being taken off. What a weird decision.

I thought Emnes and Robson were their best players yesterday, both Premiership level players. Of the two I think we needed a Robson type player more. But they were a bloody good side and I really enjoyed watching them play - best game at the Amex this season for me.

They bought Emnes for about 3.5million in the prem. Just shows how well we're doing competing with such teams with a neaqr 5million pounds playing up tops!

Yep, that's exactly what I noticed. I think I counted no more than 2 instances in which he got dispossessed. Impressive performance I thought.

Thought he was a fee up to £5m but regardless of that I thought he was probably the best Championship player I have seen @ the Amex. Very happy when he was substituted.

His touch was quite phenomenal for a striker and nearly as good as Vicente!

Best technical team I have seen this season, with the exception of Liverpool. Thought they were better than their NE Prem counterparts.

Great game and was impressed that they did not park the bus as I had anticipated!

Nope he originally went as an emergency loan, but they announced that they'd signed him for £1.3 million pretty soon afterwards.
