What is it about ?

True story about a bloke with learning difficulties who has a job as a circus clown. He loses his job and, because he is a massive Stoke fan, goes to the club, and Lou Macari offers him a job as the kit man, and he goes on to be a club hero amongst fans and players. It's a triumph of the spirit.

Love the bit when ... no, I shan't spoil it for those yet to watch and enjoy every single second of it. Just make sure you watch it.

Blimey El Pres, less than half the story and almost completely devoid of emotion.
What's your take on Romeo and Juliet? 'it's just one balcony & two poisonings' ***spoiler alert***

The rest of the thread is a good heads up as to the character.
Neil is a man deemed to be different but doesn't accept it, his life philosophy is 'I want to be happy so that's what I decided to be'. Neil then goes on to impact so many different lives with his force of good nature.

Superficially it's Alan Bennett does Forrest Gump but Tom Hanks can only dream of Toby Jones' performance, which was brilliant.
The script was brilliant and beautifully paced.
It was brilliantly funny and completely heart breaking, with no schmultz.

I just can't imagine there being a better programme/TV film this year.

Toby Jones was magnificent. Surely a shower of awards will come his way

His attitude to life is to be admired and a great dark sense of humour illustrated by the and Macari interivew and pants scene (these ones chaff), also brilliantly acted. What came across was despite his learning difficulties no one felt sorry for him he actually inspired others around him who found it a genuine pleasure to be his friend.
