MT went to Dorothy Stringer and certainly looked the part: Bosun, Crombie (with silk hankie!), levis, Ben Sherman, polished DM's, skin/suade head, etc. Trouble was the police knew him and watched his every move - not much fun when you went out drinking with him.....but at away matches always seemed to be at the front. I remember being first off the train with him at Selhurst once .... only for him to start singing "who's that copper with a tit on his head" to a line of about 50 waiting police (see you later Marcus).[/QUOTE]

Who was the boxer lad from the Bosun ? Wayne ? I remember CT telling us at Gillingham that if the Bosun started anything to leave Wayne for him.

Roddy, who was the panda decapitater ?

Savannah's

Hey who suggested Savannah's - cant find it in the thread - you all know its part owned by Rod and Mick dont ya, and a bunch of other ex Amex boys. Be a great place to toast the geezer. Raise a glass or 3 in his honour from me, it'll be 5.a.m. where I am - maybe I'll get a cuppa with carnation milk in his honor's honour

Have to say, I don't remember some of what Reevesy is putting on me..... Sorry If I clumped you mate, but I honestly don't remember doing it. And I certainly don't remember doing - or even saying - anything untoward at Gilingham:shrug:

I do remember the Newcastle trip though.

That was a cracker - left the services club at kicking out time on Friday night and the coach drove through the night- we got to Toon at about 7:00 the Saturday morning and the Bill wouldn't let us in so they sent us to Whitley Bay - there was a cafe, but the owner wasn't there and some local cooked us all breakfast free gratis and for nothing, then some dick - I can't remember who!!! nicked the till, and it all kicked off.

Then at the ground Martin and I had our collars felt for something pretty minor. The old bill took us to the temporary police station and gave us the option of a kicking or a court appearance. Needless to say we didn't go to court!!! Good old fashioned policing.

Then there were the Newcastle looney gang, Skinheads wearing wigs!! a whole flipping bus load of them, driving around looking for visiting supporters then jumping off the bus and engaging.

One of the best trips of all time.

I dont know if the telecoms people are still there on the 5th floor of Amex, but I think somebody who works at Amex currently should check. He was a very well thought of bloke among the telecom team, and im sure some of them, if...and I say if...some of those people are still there, would like to be involved....ive been out the country for years, and dont have any contacts there anymore..

CT, you phoned me at 10 in the morning because your bird had dumped you (just as well I was too tight to buy a pressie), and tried to drag me down the pub, normally that would not have been a problem but I could see an evil glint in your eye, even on the phone. I kept you out of the pub until 12 and then proceeded to get more pissed than you, so much for being a mate and keeping you out of trouble. I would say that it was not one of your best efforts because I stayed upright, as I said, a warm up for the real thing.

Anyway, lamping a couple of taffies was just what you needed that day.

As for Gillingham you probably did not think we were man enough to take this guy on and felt you should look after us, ok by me. Wayne was kicking off and threatening HH boys but nothing became if it, perhaps he heard what you said.

Newcastle was great day out, we went up by car and stayed at Tony Coleman's in Darlington overnight, Tony, Mighty Atlas, Graham West, Tony Coare, Bob the Leg and a lass called Claire Bushby I think celebrated in a steak house much to the amusement of the locals. Got back late Sunday still under the affluence of incohol.

PS Anyone told HH RFC and the Plums, I know he had a lot of mates there?

The boat will not dock until its flag is returned to the captain!!

sorry rory - don't know the answer to that one either.

I reckon i should have listened to the doctor and got rid of those aluminium saucepans eh!!!

was it mk!!! Thinking he was passport control? Mk got his legs smashed up when he was sitting on the back of those pedal car things! Got rear ended by another one of ours? Remember the naked millwall bike thief? And the attempted police station raid?
"we will let him go if you promise to leave ostend!!!!!!!!!!"

Ah, yes, the infamous ferry trip, Ditchburn got us in trouble before we even docked. As soon as we heard the announcement “Would the organisers of the football trip please return the Royal Ensign to the Purser otherwise we are going straight back to England”, Roddy and I looked at each other with a look that said, ”We know just who has it”.

We were right, Ditch knew we knew it, gave us the flag back and legged it to the furthest part of the ship. I must say the view was very nice from the bridge but the worrying part is that it was only two letters away from brig.

If you think that ferry journey was trouble, anyone remember back from Copenhagen ?

Kingy and a certain member of this forum got a bit out of order with a German soccer team as we docked and when we got back on the coach I was so pissed off I told him where to go, he lamped me one so I lamped him back. Result ? Blood pouring from my nose and all over my T shirt and Kingy out like a light for several hours, must have been the beer.

As for Donoghue, he lost all his spending money for five days, all £10 of it, in about ten minutes in the ship’s casino, did not worry him at all. He “borrowed” a girl’s bike and promptly got taken off by Plod. Maggot thought this a bit unfair and tried to rescue him by jumping on Plod’s back and promptly got taken in as well. Maggot got released and Roddy and I went the plod office to find JD sitting on a chair, arms folded, legs crossed and telling senior plod that if it was not for his dad, the whole of Belgium would be speaking German. The truth was, his dad was in the catering corps and never left England.

John’s tirade did not go down very well as you can imagine and neither did this slightly plastered idiot with a blood soaked shirt trying negotiate Donoghue’s release in pidgin French.

The Rev is right, JD was allowed out as long as we all left Ostend, next thing I knew JD is playing football on the beach carrying his trousers.

Sometime after we landed in Ostend, various younger members of the entourage phoned home to tell their mums they were all right and they had not been kidnapped by Flemish pirates. “No mum, I did not go to the bar I watched "Bambi" in the ship’s cinema.”

Would you believe me if I told you Martyn was one of them ?

I imagine most of them have been outsourced to IBM by now! However, I have also received a facebook invite to this from someone I know that used to work there, so I'm guessing many of them already know.

Event: Celebration of one of life's greats. Martyn Blyth
Start Time: 31 July at 19:00
End Time: 31 July at 23:30
Where: The Savannah Pub, Haywards Heath

Drove that mini bus to Hereford and always remember Mungo with his head down the drain with a little plastic cup to collect the water. Cant remember who had the AA relay card but it got 6 of us back to Haywards Heath early sunday morning (palace had playoff game that afternoon something BHA fans may see one day) Always had great arguements with Mungo about palace and brighton but at the end of the day neither true fans would want their most hated rivals to go under - what would we argue about then !!!
Mungo was a top bloke and l look forward to seeing all the old faces at Savannah on the 31st. Is it a game of 2 halves with the true blues starting at 1:00 and the girlies at 7:00 ?

Hi Dave, Long time no see.

John Szweda reporting for duty. My brother Joe is still around. We are still supporting the Albion.

John, does Joe Lees still do decorating ? I need some done.

As for the Lux flag, I always thought that was Roddy but probably Ditchburn again.

Reevesy.

i'll sweep the ramps down:thumbsup:

Bastard (2 nd time)

I recall a fair few of the Coach trips, though never went abroad sadly. Im sure i was on one of the clair hall departures that took us to Anfield in 83 cup run...left 4am, and i very well recall my bottle of Bells whisky that appeared to have disappeared down my throat too easily. We stopped at a pub (Warrington or somewhere rings a bell. I know in the pub it was loud mayhem as goodness knows how many of us suddenly developed Coronation street accents, much to the annoyance of the two bet lynches behind t'bar

I recall the game reasonably well, though i did have to sit on the terrace to kip before kick-off...happy days
