Just reported, Daily Mail.

Brighton look like they have won the race to sign Martin Montoya
SIMON JONES: Martin Montoya has opted to join Brighton and Hove Albion.

The 27-year-old Spanish full-back had been in talks with Fulham but Chris Hughton has persuaded him to move to the south coast and the Valencia defender is poised to sign this afternoon.

Translates as: He could not agree with Fulham. On entering the circuit, Brighton and Hove Albion convinced the player to come to them.

Let's hope this guy is better than the last right back we got from Valencia...

This is all jolly exciting, isn't it?

I love a dramatic transfer thread, especially when it's not the end of the world if we miss out.

If we do sign him who does it spell the end for? Schelotto or Sutner?

I wouldn't be surprised if both went. But they can both play as wing backs if CH fancies trying out that formation again so could be either.

Well if we do sign him we go over our non-HGP contingent don't we? So we would need to loan out/sell someone, guessing Hemed/Suttner/Schelotto or does Towell count as a non HGP? I can't remember

Fingers drumming, waiting for cold water to be poured by AN. Would be a great signing if it comes to fruition, our record with Valencia players is pretty outstanding.
