Banned from travelling or banned from buying tickets?

They had plenty of herberts travel to their game in Amsterdam.
I got told they are banned from travelling, definitely from buying tickets 'officially'. Purely on guesswork it might be slightly different travelling to a non-Schengen country as there will be checks I presume, where as to Amsterdam they're checked by no one.

don't panic we have a got about 10 pubescent thicko's who talk the talk to keep us all safe. IM talking about the ones who say "ran from the Brighton" to Ajax fans from behind train doors when much ado about nothing occurred at brighton station.
Social media somehow turned that scuffle into kicking off with Ajax, hilarious.

Was told at work 75% of the tickets have gone to UK based fans and 25% will travel, most of the Ultra groups like the 'commando ultras' are banned from travelling. They've been told the shuttle buses are optional but advised (much like us in Athens).
This was the same for AEK at the Amex. Most tickets were given to the London supporters club. Essentially, due to a stupid UEFA rule, it means considerably less admin for the clubs as international (UK based) fan groups take on the responsibility for behaviour, rather than the club themselves.

They'll be excitable during the game but anonymous either side of it I reckon. Though I am aware of your "the fans are lovely and we'll have no issues" interview pre-AEK away...

Their fans are great. Literally the only good part about that shuttle between Joliette and Velodrome was zooming past all of them flipping the bird at us from their cars/mopeds - some very subtly and some ridiculously vociferously. It genuinely really made me chuckle and diverted my attention from the droning Sussex Whingebag behind me who was complaining about Marseilles Police and comparing it to his experience with England in '98.
I seem to recall reading it got really feisty….and an egg got thrown as well!

As I said, little to nothing happened.

Having been to all 3 away games, Marseille was by far the most intimidating. But how many of those homes fans driving around on scooters with machetes are likely to be travelling to the away games? Not many I’d guess. Probably will be fine.
If anyone can keep an eye on moped numbers in the Bridge and University C, it would be appreciated 👍🏻

This. For their away games it's a lot more likely to be the pure football fans, than the local lads about town.

They'll be colourful and passionate, I don't think they'll be any aggro if you're minding your own business and not goading them/asking for it.

AEK fans at the Amex were good supporters and well behaved, I expect similar from Marseille.
