[Albion] Marseille away 1 year later

Thing I recall was driving a 1A and stopping outside The George in Mile Oak as standing in my seat meant I could see the TV screen through the window (obviously we can’t touch our phones) we were 2-0 down.

However I was cheered in the knowledge I had a couple of trips booked

Utterly surreal, one of the blokes I went with has been standing with me at the Albion since we were school boys, Goldstone>Withdean>Amex. One year later and we still exchange messages talking about how bonkers it was.

Dublin - Paris Beauvais
then airbnb
PB to Marseille on Thursday morning
Build up to game
Stadium atmosphere fantastic
Comeback legendary
Mop man and the long, long wait
Those jam packed buses
Hotel near station
Most of Friday exploring Marseille and flight back to Shannon in evening
Kip at airport until morning
Bus back to Galway

Never ever be forgotten! Fantastic!

Up at 2.30 am to get to Stanstead, to Amsterdam, to Marseille, decent restaurant/bar on tree lined boulevard just around corner from meeting point Square, incredible game/atmosphere, post game an interview with South Today, long wait back, more beers somewhere, and check into hotel at 2.30.. 24hr mission.. up at early o'clock for double decker train/eurostar back to St Pancras.. fabulous.. ( get messages from family about TV interview that i had completely forgotten about..)

What a day(s). Incredible.

We better make Europe again . Nothing else compares now. We were very lucky with the locations we got in that tournament.

Even being held inside the stadium for nearly 2.5hrs after full time couldn’t damper our spirits. Just an unforgettable experience. Lifetime memories.
