This can be a can of worms, I speak from bitter and expensive experience. Start by looking at the US Embassy web site and then get back to me and I'll fill you in with more detail. I can't right now as I'm at work and have a problem that needs sorting.

I've worked and lived over there but not ever married one...

Its a hard answer to give unfortunately, getting a work permit is ridiculously hard - although I got one as I had a degree - just because you're marrying someone doesn't give you immediate rights...

and as for living there - be prepared to feel like a fish out of water for a while - I had some great friends but some people just don't want to know you as you're a foreigner...

Well sadly I know all too well about what happens, there are a few here who've actually met Mrs BHA.

All i know is that there's 30 million English men and 125 million American women who will jump straight into bed with you when you open your mouth.THEY'RE GREAT and you need to get your ass there if you're looking for some.

Actually Mr B. is quite right. A lot of American women are giving oral sex before they have 'normal' sex too, blow jobs are nothing to them.

I got a visa quite easily & I haven't even got a degree. I didn't know you needed one actually!

I've met a couple of septics who've wanted to marry me, but I'd miss little things like, pubs, footie in pubs, live footie, footie grounds with pubs, pub footie. You get my drift.

There is a real probability i will be getting married to a U.S. citizen and possibly moving over there to live.

Anyone have any knowledge, thoughts, or experiences on this subject?

I kinda know what i have to do with the visa stuff, but any input is welcome :)

I'll PM you in a couple of days about what you need to do. To put an answer on the board with twats like MR (well named) Turd around wouldn't be clever. I do actually know what's involved as I am not only married to an American but I also know several who are as well. As a matter of interest where are you likely to be living ?

Unless there's a damn good reason you might want to consider your fiancee moving here.

I'm married to a US citizen. Lucky for me she prefers to live here. I lived in the US for a year and it's seriously dull, especially in the small towns. Having to drive everywhere because of the lack of transport is a massive pain in the arse, since you can't go out drinking very easily. Where are you planning to move to?

Who's to stand in the way of love, eh? ;)

The Albion. You'll have to divorce her first.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
I'd tend to agree about the dull side, I lived in a suburb of Atlanta called Peachtree for about 6 months this year, no one EVER go's out drinking during the week. And even at weekends there is not the 'down the pub' attitude that we have here, saying that travel is MEGA cheap, even last minute bookings on Southwest or Jet Blue can see you travelling 3 hour trips to big cities for about $29.

I was offered a green card because of the specialised nature of my work but I turned it down, quite frankly I found 6 months working in Guernsey last year more exciting

It's not just that it's boring (although I lived just outside Chattanooga and that's one of Tennessee's four largest cities and that place made WOrthing look exciting) it's a whole host of other reasons.

Typically though, if you don't have health or wealth (and often the two go hand in hand) the USA is a third world country.

That is my preferred option. Unfortunately she has a long-standing and as-yet-unresolved child custody issue. Makes things difficult.

Potential U.S. destination is Missouri.
