Marrakech or Agadir?

Simple question. Which is better for a holiday?

Agadir is modern following earthquake in the 60s... its clean, its westernised, the tourist police look out for the tourists..quite nice hotels and beach is ok...

Marrekesh is more your actual Morocco imo
Big square with lots of 'entertainment'...story tellers, dancers, snake charmers etc.. souks...

Depends what you want...

Just lying on the beach in the sun - Agadir is good

Bit of cultural difference - go to Marrakesh

Did a two centre holiday with the Mrs, Marrakech in week one, then Agadair week two.

First culture, then the beach.

Best of both, innit.

Agadir is a lot more accommodating for standard tourists. i.e play football in pub, loads of places to drink.

Marrakesh, more culture but not too much to do.

Went last summer, would recommend say four days in marrakesh and maybe a week on the beach in agadir, can get the bus down for bout £8-10

Agadir's a bit of a dump on the sea. MK is the place to be, mad as f***, then get a grand taxi to Essaouira to chill for a bit

If you're going beach, Essaouira is nice.

This is very true. If you only go to one city, make it Fez. Like going back 1500 years. Fantastic place.

Tangier is very intimidating. Lots of hustling from desperate "merchants" all of whom will encourage you to visit their freind who has carpets.

I went to marrakesh and f***ing hated it, nasty city with some serious polution problems. If you want to experience morrocco head out of the main cities to places like essaouira

Walked past the tanning place in Marrakesh.. ill never forget the smell.

Done both. Marrakech is interesting/exciting
Agadir isn't.

You can fly to Fez and catch a train to Marrakech.

i'm off to marakesh for 2 nights in the summer followed by a week in agadir... sounds to me like you can do the majority of things in marrakesh is 2-3 days (and then need to relax, hense the week on the beach!)

Marrakech is best for a long weekend imo, any more and things start getting on your tits
