I just heard that Swindon might be getting Mark Yeates on loan for the season.

If this is true why aren't we going after him?

i think they had to give swindon a choice of players to have on a season long loan as part of the deal which took a young swindon player called leigh mills to whit hart lane

is he wat we need?

He's a quality player and he's already played for us. He'd create chances. I just think we should be exploring options like this.

I personally wasn't sure of Yeates by the end. He definitely had talent but he lost possession a hell of a lot and, although he looked creative, his play often lacked the final killer pass.

Bit of a Graham Barrett, ran around a lot but didn't actually produce much end result.

He's a good player, but I don't think he's really what we need. Once we get players fit, we will actually have a fair bit of competition in central midfield. Most team's midfields are more talented than ours (Yeates wouldn't change that) therefore I'd be far more inclined to have Nicolas/Carpenter alongside a really effective ballwinning player

Personally, I think he (Yeates) showed a lot more in the middle of the park than either Hinsh or Nicolas have this season.

I still think that the midfield should be the focus area for McGhee at the moment. Hurry up and get fit Chippy .....

Tottenham have bought a lot of players have they any in the reserves that we could loan.

Having said that the last one who played for Tottenham hasn't been much of a revelation Piercey.

I think you are spot on 80's Seagull.

He is NOT the player we need. A big aerial threat up front is where one player will make a massive difference, as the crosses coming in from wide on Tuesday were excellent. At the moment we have 2 wingers but no-one to head the crosses in.

2nd choice is a centre-half with a bit of experience and maybe pace, as something has just gone from our defence this season. We need a wise old head to come in and organise things better.

Yeates, good player, but not what we need.

I thought at times he did alright for us, but at others he didn’t make any impact.

McGhee though seemed to really rate Yeates prior to him coming here, so I am a little surprised we did not make a greater effort to bring him back.

You're right, we've been strangely rampant in the transfer market so have quite a few players who I imagine will struggle to get even a place on the bench this season. I hope.
For example.
Take Bunjevcevic, Richards, Slabber or Keller.

Please.

PLEASE.

Profile

Bunjevcevic is a tall defender who became one of Glenn Hoddle's very first signings at Spurs when he joined the north London club in June 2001 for £4million from Red Star Belgrade.
Bunje was not the big name signing many Spurs fans were hoping for from their new messiah, but he is a solid defender who has the task of filling Sol Campbell's boots at White Hart Lane.

The Premiership may be something of a culture shock, however, as Bunjevcevic only ever played in Belgrade before opting to join Spurs. As well as turning out for Red Star, the defender has also played for Graficar and Rad.

The Yugoslav international enjoyed a successful time with Red Star, lifting the League championship and also winning the League Cup.

He made his debut for the club in a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa, but was ruled out through injury in September 2001. He suffered a fractured cheekbone against Chelsea that ruled him out for three months.

And when the player finally returned he was beset by injuries to both his thigh and knees. That meant he played just eight games in his first season at White Hart Lane.

Bunjevcevic was far more of a regular feature in the 2002/03 campaign, but the following season he struggled to get a look-in and played only eight games.

The defender played only 53 games in his first three seasons with Tottenham, and looks unlikely to make a success of his stay in north London.

Nah mate, it's alright. You can keep him :lolol:

From BBC Teletext:

Tottenham striker Mark Yeates has linked up with Swindon ahead of a planned loan move to the County Ground.

The 19-year-old is joining the Robins as part of the deal that saw Swindon defender Leigh Mills, 16, move to White Hart Lane in the summer.

Swindon boss Andy King said: "I will take a quick look at Mark in training before finalising a loan deal."

Yeates started Spurs' final game of last season and also enjoyed a 10-game loan spell with Brighton in 2003/04.

Yeates said "I can't believe that Swindon have come in for me. I proved last season that I was out of my depth at this level. However, the fact that Brighton pissed all over Swindon in last season's play off semi finals has persuaded me to give it another go."

For what it is worth, I think the News of the World gave him an 8 in his first appearance for Swindon yesterday.
