Mark Waddington (born 11 October 1996) is a footballer who plays as a midfielder for Blackpool's youth team.
He made his first-team debut for the club on 12 August as a 60th-minute substitute in a League Cup fixture against Shrewsbury Town.[1]
On 9 January 2015, after rejecting a £200-a-week professional contract, Waddington and fellow youth player Dom Telford were turned away from training by Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston and told to play for the youth team until they accepted his offer.[2]

Well they did improve a bit and seemed to have a bit more pace and drive about them after Orlandi went off - not sure if this was down to the replacement or the fact that the goal lifted them.

Sounds like just the kind of player we need to get in, with alot of outgoing this summer he'll be the perfect foil besides Ince in League 1, if we keep Ince ofc.

Sadly it does show the current difference in ambition. One club is willing to go to 5 million for a teenager, the other is looking for players on the cheap from a club in complete disarray. Oh well in 5 years we may pass Bournemouth going the other way..maybe, assuming the Russian loses interest.

People moaning about this are a joke, it's not exactly a big risk and Blackpool fans seem genuinely gutted about the possibility of him leaving. What's the issue with signing highly rated youngsters for our development squad? It's exactly what we should be doing.

Could also see it as Bournemouth gambling on instant success Portsmouth style, while Brighton build from the ground up and invest in a sustainable future: Spending money on Cat A academy, signing promising youngsters etc.

You are almost certainly right but the fact that we actually sign so few first team players probably leads to cynicism from some of us. Most of our signings seem to be development players these days. Having had so much ambition when the Amex opened and getting so close, it's pretty disappointing that we have lowered our sights so much. Completely understandable but non the less very disappointing.
