I wasn't there but when put under pressure which didn't sound often he had a poor punch, which Mayo got him out of jail with.

But i am not knocking Hendo i am saying put the best keeper between the sticks.

I agree. I think FDM should have played today, I thought he was the better keeper in pre-season and deserved a chance. But I cant really complain if he kept a clean sheet and we won 1-0 with 10 men.

The Hendo v FDM decision rattles on, but it can't have been VERY WRONG if Hendo kept a clean sheet. If we had been dicked 4-1 then fair enough surely

By the sounds anyone could have kept the clean sheet today and thats not disrespecting Hendo.

The team appeared to defend as a unit very well but lets test it with better opposition first.

I just feel FDM deserved the start.

I am just feel for the guy who really wants to be playing first team footie in his twilight years, just hope he is given a chance soon but now it will be hard to drop Hendo and rightly so.

It's unfortunate that only one can play at a time. But then it can only benefit us by having a fired up, raring to go Kuipers waiting for his chance, Henderson has to be consistently at the top of his game.

Not sure who it was but someone was an tactical genius today. Isolated the small rotherham left back against revell and revell won every header and allowed hammond to get forward onto the knock downs which was where the majority of our forward play came from. Given the thought that went into it I would guess it was Wilkins....:p

I thought he got it tactical right today but the one team selection he got very wrong was that he decided still to leave the inform FDM on the bench.

I fear he will only be playing if Hendo is injured or in the cup games.

Will he ever get the chance to play, he had every right to pick him today poor FDM must be gutted.
Why? Hendo was excellent today, name one thing he did wrong - I can't think of one.

Agreed Hendo was excellent today, tactically a few tweaks and I think we may have a system that works, hope Kaz gets some fire in his belly the only real disappointment was his lack luster effort, but not one to dwell on negatives, great result dead pleased and cant wait for Tuesday. :albion:

I'd be frankly a lot more pissed off if we kept Hendo out of the team and discovered a transfer request from him a few months down the road  FDM is going nowhere at his age, but Hendo will have plenty of suitors if we dick him around.

Henderson was very good today. He made a cracking save in the first half and made a number of good saves without fumbling! He did miss one punch and he did have a couple of poor kicks but overall very good.

But yes, Revell on the full-back was the one we have to highlight. Also Revell's height was used to good effect defending our set pieces, perhaps negating the need for Lowe's height.

Other tactical triumphs:

Lynch's first game at this level as CB, his partnership with El Abd was excellent

Cox over Frutos - Cox for me has better dribbling ability

OGH up front - he's not the solution in the medium term never mind long-term but for this game it was a good call to have someone working the new-look Rotherham defence hard physically, CKR/Robinson might not have stuck to the job so well

Revell's debut over playing CKR/Robinson - excellent

Hammond back on the flank - a good move to take the pressure off him while still keeping his fantastic box-to-box workrate. One superb defensive blcok at the end underlines the enduring value of this player

I am not knocking Hendo.

Although when under presssure he punches far too often IMO.

Catching is by far the better option and if i am being picky he apparently made a half punch which luckily fell for Mayo to clear.

I really thought FDM deserved the start and i am wondering how he will ever get a first team place without him going for a nice plesant walk with MM along Beachy head.

Ive just got back, and I thought mcghee got it spot on today. I thought Lynch, Cox (before he went off) the west ham kid, and Revell all played really well. A defening silence from the mcghee doubters tonight.

We were not brilliant but we won with 10 men, in a potential banana skinn game, away from home. You cant ask for more than that on the opening day.

So with the relative safety of pole position how does that create competition?

It doesn't, Hendo is the better keeper and should always play when fit. FDM is the injury back-up.

Sorry, but that's just how I see it, dunno about McGhee :)

FDM was poor at MK Dons last Friday to boot.

So one game below par game for Kuipers means no chance.

Half a dozen below par performances by Hendo means keep up the good work.

Where is the logic there?

:nono:

His distubution is bollocks MM talk.
