I have to say I thought that by now we would look a more solid team under is management than seems to be the case. However, there is a large amount of people on NSC who seem to feel that wholesale changes are needed, and when this was last the case under Micky Adams he took a bit of time to get things right. So I will delay full judgement until the end of the season to see how we do.

having said that it took micky adams a bit of a time to get things right. dont you think that mcghee needs more time than the end of the season. micky set about unloading the players he didn't want and signing the players he did want in the close season and even then it wasn't instant sucess. remember kidderminster. lets face it mcghee has inherited a team that has been in a false position for some time. theyve been playing like a mid-table side but somehow theyve managed to be in the top six.the chickens are now coming home to roost and hes the poor sod whos in charge. these same players scuppered bookers chance of becoming manager and if mcghee has got any sense hell get shot of most of them at the end of the season including our thespian, hard drinking, lazy top goal scorer.

Give the man a chance - I think he has levelled criticism at the team but not necessarily in a blood and thunder way. I was unsure when he was announced but I am prepared to give hime some time.

My guess is that MM is aiming at next season. Next season we'll have the additional 2000 seats (I think?), and we'll know about Falmer (for better or worse).

He'll have the summer to clear out some of the dead-wood, and bring in some new players. I think he's grooming (not in the pervy way :lolol: ) the younger players and seeing how they can adapt, such as Virgo in midfield. This is encouraging, and we should accept that some seasons are just mid-table mediocrity. How many times does the England team get slated for poor performances in friendlies? It's a strange attitude. That's what they are for, experimenting. I feel as though this season is more like that; consolidating our position after last year, bringing on the younger players and planning for the future.

If we get some home-grown players gaining experience this year, ready for a decent challenge next year, that's OK with me. I think that Jake, El-Abd, Virgo look like they can be brought to the first team fairly quickly, and I would like to see Hammond play again. From my brief view of him, he seems like a decent player.

This may be true to a certain extent but Mcghee has always said we should at least be looking to make the play-offs this season. We certainly don't like doing that just at the moment.

Lets face it - we've all been unmotivated this season after the disappointment of relegation. The fans have been gloomy most of the season and this has been compounded by Zamora, Brooker and Ingemarsson leaving, Coppell deserting us, no decision on the stadium yet, having to play poor teams again, appalling referees (how many have we had this season?) and poor away form. Is it any wonder that the players are feeling it too?

Our home form is plenty good enough. It's only the away form that isn't, and any manager will tell you that halting a run of bad results home or away is difficult to arrest. Perhaps the away form is playing on the minds of the players?

What I mean is I did expect us to be doing a bit better than we are. But that does not mean I think people should be calling for his head, as some seem to want. And I think he should be given a chance, after all his contract runs until the end of next season. I do think we should have a better idea about the direction the Albion is heading by the end of the season.

While it would, yes, be much better to see how he does next season after he has had a full pre season to bring in new blood while letting other players leave. Occasionally this does not happen though, for example Newell at Hartlepool last season when results were not what the chairman expected. Though at the moment I would say it is highly unlikely that McGhee would leave in the summer.

Whats the point in writing off a season when we are only a point off the playoffs. I don't suppose McGhee is, but you lot are. As mentioned above, we just need a bit of luck to arrest the poor away form, and we could go off on an unbeaten run. Our home form is still fantastic remember.

With Adams he took us from the bottom to mid-table with the same players, before wholesale changes.

With McGhee he's taken us from Top 2 / Play-off position safety to outside the play-offs, no away win since November - with the same players.

I take the point about "you can't polish a turd" but we know these players should be comfortably in the play-off positions, we've seen them win this Div before and beat QPR and Plymouth this season.

McGhee is underachieving and I'm worried.

Pav, the slide away from top spot started well before McGhee arrived. And I don't care what Millwall fans think of him - it's horses for courses as far as I can see.

I'm not worried yet. Let's see what he does in the summer.
