Nothing to do with winning something like 40 of us 120 games in charge then Garth?

Well a good 92 of those 120 games were in the Championship. I know results are results and you have to compete, but as an underfunded promoted side, how many games do you expect to win?

Any potential player (and their leeching agents) will be aware of the fact that, while the stadium issue is unresolved, there's not going to be much money around to bring in other decent players for you to play alongside etc.

Its still all a bit wishy washy to me. Agents will get the best deals for their players at the detrement of all other factors, money is the only motivator in this day and age, maybe thats why clubs get into the sort of situations that we have seen with Knight, CKR etc etc.

And no, I havent had the benefit of making money in the dotcom era, I have spent the last 10 years in Airline Management.

Is it really that difficult to grasp the concept that the prospects offered by an employer can often be something else to consider alongside salary? Whatever.

I for one am not sure about sacking McGhee.I certainly feel very sorry for him. With him in charge there was no way we would have gone down this season, the ship would have been steadied and we would have I am sure been pushing above mid table to the play offs. That said we would have been in the same position that McGhee found us in at the start.

The first season he got us promoted with a glorious day out at Cardiff, the next season he walked on water keeping us in the Championship. McGhee should have been awarded manager of the season not Mourinho.

The next season we were doing ok until the last few months when the wheels came off. Leon Knight started the down turn followed by a number of players throwing their toys out of the pram, no one came in and we signed a half decent striker too late.

We had a good start this season but again cannot get a striker because we are a club going nowhere until we get the green light for Falmer.

McGhee stood by Albion and the Falmer fiasco for 3 years and was loyal to the club right to the end and for that he is a man of honour and integrity.

I am sorry to see him go and would not have sacked him myself, he earned enough credit for him to have a full season in this division and be here for when we hopefully get the good news about Falmer.

Ultimately the fans got him the sack and all the snipers behind the dug out who disgracefully abused him. Knight reluctantly bowed to fan pressure but considering the achievements he had made and the impossible position with having to sell every player asset he ever got, having jumped up players rocking the boat and having no any real money or being able to strengthen the squad through no fault of his own I do not agree with him being sacked.

I hope to see you all on the seafront on the 17th to abuse the real reason we are where we are.

Good luck Mark.

Hear hear! For me the only major blot on his record is the inability to persuade players to join. And, without knowing what money is really on offer, even that may not be his fault entirely.

Certainaly most players will have sussed by now that the promise of running out at Falmer within a couple of years - which it seems we used in the early days - is all sounding a bit hollow.

That, for me, has never been reason enough for him to go.

Obviously, there are a whole host of problems, most not necessarily all that big on their own, but enough all together to make a case for his departure - but that record on its own does not make for a particularly strong case.

I am in this camp also, yes he has made mistakes but i thought Christmas was the time to change if change was needed. I am not that sad or surprised though, my worry was Dick may have left if he continued to back McGee and the fans turned on him as well. The McGee out feeling was gaining serious pace after the last couple of games and Dick sensed this and acted probably before he would have wished. I may not agree with the timing of MM's departure but pleased DK has felt the tide turning against the manager and is in tune with a lot (not all) of the fans feelings.
Thanks Mark McGee........a lot of us will remember your reign with mixed thoughts but your job was made so difficult by the nature of the restrictive resourses the club has found itself trying to contend with!

Now a new era..............good luck to Dean Wilkin's, i hope the present climate the club is in will not destroy your proud asocaition with this club!

Time will tell if it was a wise decision to sack Mark, I hope people are pleased with themselves. Lets review this at Xmas. McGhee will not be at the job centre for long I am sure.

I'm not sure clubs advertise their managers jobs at the Job Centre.

Except us.
