Did you see his shot on Saturday? No? Neither did the Yeovil goalkeeper as it went out for a throw-in - level with the edge of the penalty area.

If one bad touch makes him a bad player then Liam Dickinson is by far and away the worst player to have ever pulled on a football shirt. My mum has a better first touch than Dickinson.

Guessing you're conveniently ignoring a better career goals average than Forster?

Has anyone ever found a link to the photo while he was at Millwall that gave him his trolly nickname? Think it was him and some other bald headed (midfield or defender) we had on loan for a bit.... sure I have seen it or maybe I just imagined it ??

Goals scored is only one point though. Compare the total number of goals created and you'll find Forster is far and away better than Murray in that respect.

That said I think Murray is a quality player but just looking at goal scoring record isn't enough.

seem to remember having a pop at him think it was away at donny after he left us ,and he duly obliged by scoring thier winning goal,to firmly shut the piss takers up,so i will not be falling for that old chestnut again and will be cheering him all the way.

I think you're watching too much Prem League on telly. They never make a mistake there do they?

Never watch the Premier League. In fact I don't watch any football other than live Brighton matches (more or less, I shall be watching either Sporting or Benfica this weekend). I just like winding up Murray admirers, because he is a distinctly ordinary player who seems to have taken on the persona of king over the water to a large number of posters on here.

Hmm. You are as good as your last game. Dickinson scored. Murray didn't. And what level has Forster spend much of his career playing at?

I never did get to hear that. Don't s'pose you have a link Icy?

Afraid not, it was an evening game and Harty was slagging Trolley off, next thing he was on the phone in. He very eloquently gave Harty a dressing down and Harty, from memory did some serious backtracking :lolol:

*League only (career stats)

Murray www.soccerbase.com - The Internet Soccer Database
goals/game 0.32

Forster www.soccerbase.com - The Internet Soccer Database
goals/game 0.31

Dickinson www.soccerbase.com - The Internet Soccer Database
goals/game 0.34

*I mean the below info is career league stats only, not that Murray is better in the league only.

But Forster has scored these at a higher level. Surely scoring loads in League 1 or lower isn't as good as scoring at Championship level.

Was it not MM five yards out at The Millenium Stadium, just about to pull the trigger, who was fouled for the pen despatched by LK to take us to The Promised Land?

Well, that depends. Is scoring against a poor championship team more of an achievement than scoring against a strong league one team? Surely a goal against Leeds or Charlton is worth more than one against plymouth or ipswich for example?

That's the problem with stats. While they do provide some impirical facts, some talking points, thy can be looked at in different ways.

Another counter that can be made to those figures I provided is "that's over their careers, what is their scoring ratio at brighton?"

Murray 38(10) appearances 19 goals = 0.396
Forster 74 (8) appearances 34 goals = 0.415
Dickinson 11(1) appearances 3 goals = 0.25

Now, Forster has the best goals/game ratio for brighton in the league, and dickinson is quite poor.

You can also say, well that's unfair on dickinson, because he's only been here twelve games, let's just look at this season (league and cup):

Murray 2(4) appearances 0 goals = 0.000
Forster 10(2) appearances 7 goals = 0.583
Dickinson 12(1) appearances 3 goals = 0.231

Which one you decide to present, and how you present it is favoured by which striker you have a personal preference for, which can be an inexplicable emotional bias, a preference for a style of play, whether you like their attitude etc.
