I'm writing a paper on her at the moment for my Modern British History class, anyone have any comments on her "legacy" that would like to be referenced for my essay?

If you write an essay which includes things such as "Grendel, on North Stand Chat, believes that....", do you really expect anyone to take it seriously? If I wrote something that quoted people on a message board as a reputable source, I wouldn't take it seriously myself let alone expect anyone else to.
I think the smiley suggests he wasn't being entirely serious.
However, i do like the idea.
In contrast to the opinion of Barrel Of Fun, Withdean Wanderer indicates that Margaret Thatcher is a "bint" (14/03/08 North Stand Chat - Powered by vBulletin). However, he gives little reasoning for this opinion, so it can probably be considered both irrelevant and bollocks.
Genius
In contrast to the opinion of Barrel Of Fun....
Damn. I saw this thread title and thought she was dead.
She was one of the team of chemists at J Lyons & Co who first developed soft ice cream.
Not content with inflicting that abomination on the public, she went on to destroy British manufacturing industry and inspired a new economy in which speculating in the future price of non-existent commodities gave opportunities to a bunch of spivs to become obscenely rich.
She sincerely believed that the "one-nation" philosophy of traditional Conservatism was "wet".
Her legacy is Northern Rock.
The manufacturing industry was always going to go down the pan wasn't it? We couldn't compete with the far east.
Is her legacy really Northern Rock? Whilst one claims that Britain is a much greater place nowadays, could that not be contributed to the foundations laid by Thatcher?
