I'm really not sure why the actions of one man (Rashford) or a group of people (HMG), neither of whom I have any real connection with in any way, would have any reflection on my feelings regarding my nationality, another thing I had absolutely no control over whatsoever.

But, yes, Marcus Rashford is a very impressive young man. In a world where peers such as Jack Grealish seem to use their position for self-gratification, it's heartening to see someone to strive so hard to improve the lives of others.

You can't see why this government might reflect on people's feelings about their nationality? Really? So to give an extreme example, you don't look at Haiti, for example, and think "tin pot corrupt country"?

This government embarrasses us on an international stage. They are corrupt, they are liars and they are so useless that they are probably the worst government we will ever see. And to make matters worse, they were elected with a massive majority which suggests our countrymen were too moronic to see this coming. So yes, the state of our country embarrasses me.

Isn't he just demanding that some peoples money be given to some other people?

If you want to be a good person then make personal sacrafices, give what belongs to you, don't just demand things from others.

As things stand kids don't generally depend on the state for food, and making that so wouldn't be an improvement. I tend to think that it's a parent's job to feed their kids.

Sorry, I guess I am a bad person.

I glazed over it on my Twitter feed last night, so I apologize if wrong.

But others were rallying against a Tory MP, who thinly veiled a dig a MR by demanding more parental responsibility.

Without even a hint of irony.

I certainly didn't have the energy to delve further into whether or not a sitting MP took against Rashford but much like any Fake News story from across the pond, I wouldn't be at all surprised.

No, no he isn't. Or at the very least, you're rather ignoring the wider picture. When he sees BILLIONS jizzed on Brexit, shite track and trace, and bribes to bigots, he clearly thinks "hold on a minute, what about the most vulnerable who have absolutely no voice?"

This isn't rocket science.

Many footballers do, but they don't publicise it. Bruno gives 20% away.

A certain West Ham player gives away 100% of his wages. Doesn't publicise it. Found that in his later years, the investments that he made earlier on in his career are more than enough to get by so gives everything he now earns from his club to charity.

I don't want to be horrible to you, because sometimes people just get the wrong end of the stick. But I think you're post shows you don't understand some of the principles involved here.

He's an incredibly impressive young man, in so many ways

No doubt he does. Even if he didn’t, the publicity he has put on the topic, plus the pressure he is mounting on the government is more than his money could ever provide. It’s not his job ffs, he’s doing something about it when the government should be fixing this themselves. Good on him, haven’t seen many other celebrities, footballers or otherwise, do anything about it. Or you for that matter.

He’s done a world of good, somethings are bigger than football, hungry children is one of them - so don’t be a pr**k about it. United, Palace or whoever he plays for

spot on... this is a young footballer showing a lead and there are people trying to shoot him down.

I may be wrong but I thought that one or other (or maybe both) of the Neville brothers support various good causes. And the Albion's other legend from the Iberian Peninsula ran an Iron Man marathon for a local hospice I recall.

If it's OK with you, I'll have views on other sides thanks.

The thread is about a footballer, and should stay so. Politics has sod all to do with it.

It's already been hijacked, shame as he seems a decent bloke (for a Man Ure player).

Dude, this thread clearly isn't specifically about his on-field abilities, but his off-field work. It's literally the first post.

If parents don't provide for thier children, either because they can't or they can but don't, surely nobody thinks that the children should go hungry?

Not entirely unpublicised then :p

Where have you read that figure, out of interest? Juan Mata's Common Goal initiative, that Bruno signed up to, has a 1% commitment.

I can't remember but it was publicised somewhere, because I remember being really impressed.

THPP, not publicised by him, obviously.
