what a shame that the usual moaners are out in force so soon - indeed before anyone has actually kicked a ball for the club. That, however, does seem to be a reflection of the intellect and football knowledge so often displayed on here. Perhaps in time to come they will be able to come on here and say they were right but I doubt that they will want to be reminded if not. Indeed they will doubtless have moved on to criticise some other (ANY other) aspect of the club.

I entirely accept that we all have a right to an opinion. I am simply of the view that an informed opinion is generally better than the automatic negativity and spleen venting that we have to suffer so often. Is it a sign of frustration with other (hopefully more important) aspects of their lives? Do they understand that a supporter should, by definition, have a generally positive inclination towards the club and not be totally negative?

Please, if we really are as poor as you constantly maintain, why don't you go up the road...Lewes, Palace, Portsmouth, Southampton......anywhere really but here because you pull the club down and, frankly, YOU PISS ME OFF.

For the record we have 2 not 5 loanees, one from a premiership club where he has signed a long term contract that reflects his promise and one who started at the top level (as a centre back) and has since plied his trade very successfully indeed in the championship.

We have re-signed a winger who wants to be here (clearly) and has known skill and talent in sides playing football (as opposed to Adam's kick and rush style) and we have a player with a good track record at a similar level in Spain where - in my experience - skill levels tend to be higher.

One more to come in over the next week or so and a few departures and we will potentially have a better balanced squad at the end of the month than we began with.

For chrissakes don't knock it 'til you've seen it at least :US:

Good to see someone talking sense rather than some of the moronic "spoutings" on here. I am surprised anyone would want to play for the club, when your judged as "crap" before you have even kicked a ball. Most of the people writing on here should find some other way to pass the time as they clearly know nothing about supporting a football club

This guy is a good player. Not sure if he's exactly what we need/where we need it though.

Just in case you hadn't picked up on it.. the articles on our official site and Swansea's do suggest he may well be deployed at CB..

Swansea City | News | Latest | Latest | Painter set to join Brighton

""I'm looking forward to the challenge at Brighton. I've spoken to the manager there, Gus Poyet, and I think he's looking at me as a centre-half as well. I'm comfortable with that because I originally joined Swansea as a centre-half."

Thought this a bit of a strange one until he starts talking about centre back. Sure we were after him a while back when he was still at Birmingham. Regular when Swansea walked the league so can't be that bad a left footed centre back should bring a bit of balance

Always remember whenever Lynch or Butters were playing well with their right sided partners, we often looked more secure at the back. Signing makes sense to me. Who were people expecting us to sigh for the centre of defence.....Sol Campbell probably!

I did see that, but if there's one thing we need at centreback it's an organiser, a calm experienced head. Maybe he can do that, hopefully he can, but on paper a 23 year old loanee doesn't seem to fit that bill.

According to the Swansea article his contract is up at the end of the season. If he does well I would think there is every chance we could pick him up on a free in the summer.

Here is my assesment for the record:

Brezovan - prone to odd error but mostly a solid keeper and MUCH better cover for Michel than the Jocko clown.

Carole - Best football has been for Leeds and Brighton first time round in teams who liked to keep possesion, we know he can be decent and we have NOTHING TO LOSE ON A WEEKLY DEAL. Seb knows if he's shit he's off simple

Painter - Swansea play good football and he has good pedigree from Birmingham a left footed centre half will add balance to the side if you are building play from the back, ie it will get the ball to McNulty more.

Calderon - Unknown quantity BUT he has spent a majority of his career in the Spanish Version of the Championship. Football is a technical game out there, I wouldnt be surprised to see him in midfield as he will be familiar with the style of Play Gus wants from the team. By being in the centre he may well be able to get us moving in the right direction.

Hoyte - decent on the ball and good pace, poor defensively but Wenger never offers long term contracts to poor players and before anyone mentions Joe O'Ceauril or whatever let me remind you he was on a one year deal at Arsenal not a long contract.

Good signing and you may assume he is better than what we have due to his record of clubs i.e. Birmingham, Swansea. I would have liked to have seen a permanent deal but these things often don't fall into place.

With the squad we have we won't go down, there is a better core to the squad than last year. No signing we bring in is going to miraculously lift us from relegation to play-offs. Maybe loan signings and consolidation are the best option at the moment.

Maybe then we can push on next year, sign players permanently in the summer and this time next year be in a top half position or better.

Are you on drugs? Two minutes ago you thought he was on loan to us.... and who is Adam?

Erm, yes actually, cannabis it helps me sleep. I meant Micky Adams, but you knew that didn't you. Your just a poster who likes to pounce upon other peoples spelling errors and punctuation mistakes. Jeez, man get a life and a wife. ffs.
