What's confusing about this quote is that it reads like getafe wouldn't mind him going to Burnley but Brighton , no no no not happening.

Personally I'm all for having a player that goes down easily and wins freekicks in dangerous positions especially with Webster, Dunk and Duffy attacking the balls into the box. Lots of teams have players like this Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling, Richarlison, Bruno Fernandez, Wilfried Zaha.. Every team seems to have a player that goes down a little bit easy and wins freekicks in dangerous positions except for us.

We already have a player who wins a lot of free kicks. Not because he goes down easily, but because he runs directly with speed at opponents. This is the table for most fouled players in the league from February 2021

Having powerful, quick and direct runners on each side is presumably the plan. It would give us the opportunity to break more quickly and operate in space rather than in the very crowded areas that have contributed to last season's disappointing chance conversion rate. If opponents respond by bringing down the wingbacks, then as has been said, call for Pascal and fill the box with giant centre backs (and who knows, maybe a 6'2'' striker?). The plan seems very exciting. If we can pull off these two signings and get a fully fit Tariq back in the side, this could be our first ever top flight season where we didn't have to spend the season looking over our shoulder.

Yes partly. It is also because of how release clauses in Spain work. To activate a release clause, the club would pay the player directly who in turn would buy themselves out of their contract. The money is paid to the league for this who then pass it on to the club. It is essentially Spanish law to have one included in contracts. If we paid in instalments we technically wouldn't be activating the release clause in his contract as the player wouldn't have the money to buy himself out of his contract though Getafe would eventually get the equivalent fee.

If they are hesitant to sell, or don't need to, then they have no reason to unless we pay enough for the player to buy himself out of his contract.

A bit annoying that potentially Burnley have matched the buy-out and propose to pay it in one go (reading between the lines).

Maybe we should fly to the south of France and stick our beak into their Cornet talks, muffling that deal and see how they like it!

My understanding:
If we trigger the release clause and pay in full (as correctly stated) Getafe pay additional tax on the deal.
If we pay direct to the club (in instalments) they do not

I'm not THE dullard, I'm afraid - but the timing of the cash payments won't impact the amortisation. The fee will be amortised across the length of the contract, for accounting and FFP purposes.
