Fingers crossed eh? I just want rid of him now tbh.

So you just want rid of OUR player who happens to have been voted player of the year for last season because of gossip, innuendo, hearsay and rumour?

P.S. At the time of me posting this I haven’t heard of any official announcement to state that Marc Cucurella has left to join Man City/Chelsea/Barcelona - take your pick. When, and if, he leaves I’ll offer an opinion rather than react to rumour mongering shit.

Seems so.

Maybe we'd be spreading our cash too thinly to buy both a left central defender and a left ( wing ) back.

So pragmatically we are doing the central defender on loan.

I've no idea of the thinking, of course. The occasional loan is fine though.

Is it just me but....I always thought Cucu is a bit of a headless chicken, enthusiastic and all that, but when it comes to meaningful goal creating passes, delivered on a regular basis, he's no David Beckham.

Agree. He had some very strong games for us. Maybe not as influential as Lamptey when he first arrived, but he did stand out. He also had a spell mid season when he was poor. If we are getting well in excess of 50 mill we are on the right side of the deal. City had Cucu about right. Chelsea have forked out far too much. No complaints.

Good luck Cucu- you gave your all on the ptch even if you've acted a slight tool this summer.

£55m plus £7m in add ins is significant.
Colwill in on loan suggests we rejected the buy back which is equivalent to an expensive loan if the terms aren’t great.
I wonder if we have a replacement set up such as Destiny Udogie on a £20m purchase with loan back to parent club for a year. Colwill plugs the gap for a season?

£55m+ ?

I mean, he was a decent player, but that's just nuts.

Albion sign Colwill on loan and then spend the season looking for the next £15m contract to mark up and sell on.

All at left back.

If only BG had lived to see this.

I suspect that SeagullinExile was being facetious

Marc Cucurella *SINGS on a five-year contract*

Just had a look at the replies and the vast majority freaking out that it's a loan!

Yeh. What’s the deal with that? Far better to have him on loan and solve a short term problem than pay a big fee, develop him and then allow Chelsea to buy him back too cheaply.

Takes the pressure off the LCB position so we can get the right players in long term and means we genuinely got a great deal for Cucurella.

Maybe worth noting that £62m is about twice the amount Man City piled in with but refuse to accept was laughable and derisory.

(That was a brilliant night, though. Just soooo funny. A pity because it turns out PO is a really smart and interesting bloke. And what a backstory! "Odemwingie was born in Tashkent, Uzbek SSR, Soviet Union to a Nigerian father (Peter Odemwingie Sr.) and a Russian mother (Raisa), both of whom were medical students. He moved with his family to Nigeria when he was two years old before completing his secondary education in Russia. Whilst living in Russia he played in the youth teams at KAMAZ and CSKA Moscow. At the age of 17 he moved back to Nigeria")

I know, pure theatre... those were the days ... sensible enough fees back then too !

Pretty sure the player of the season and fans player of the season handed in a transfer request less than ONE year after signing a 5 year contract. That’s fact. So yes he he can get to **** now.

That's what I was thinking. Or a bit of time for the club to promote from within. No problem with a loan, personally...

Well, if he goes (would love a twist), he was great for a year. Technically good and a real competitor. Brilliant. Seems like a great bloke too. Not going to jump on the 'he's not that good' brigade because he's brilliant BUT we were very good for him too. Our style and strong centre backs helped him reach this level. One bad game for Chelsea and things can change quickly...

Well, it's slightly nuts for us but I've been saying that's the price since May. Specialist player covering specialist positionS, four years left on contract and no obvious replacement. When you consider what Wan Bisaka went for and what Citeh spent on an alleged rapist it's not nuts at all. It's market value and Chelsea have had the good grace to pay it. Eventually.
