Because that ended with no. When he went some years later it was because we were looking to sell. He wasn't the important cog at that time, we'd had our value from him.
More a reference to the fact that bidding process went up in 50p's.

Well he can’t do that unless we have agreed a fee.
Spot on. It's Potter and the squad momentum and ambition that's the key. Cucu is great, but other players were close behind him for me as POTS, Veltman for example. When they play well (admittedly not every game) Trossard and Welbeck are bigger match winners for me than Cucu. It'll be a challenge to evolve with an annually changing squad but I believe in Bloom's model, and look what they've done at USG. Ajax do very well with their model, we can do the same. Let's not get hung up on one player, it's the mind set and skill mix of the collective that's key.
I think the way to fund higher wages is non football income, whether direct investment, or increased sponsorship, or side businesses, because that can then be applied to the existing squad, not the next one. It is also a way that we can gain advantage on our competitors, if we are able to maximise those opportunities better than they are.
……So Solly. Is our left wing back replacement……?!
With Trossard approaching contract end and rumours of Arsenal revivng their interest, plus the out of the blue Veltman to Roma links it puts even more focus on the cucu saga. Much harder to keep trossard than cucu and having already lost biss I think the big haired one may be a little pissed off and subdued at the season start. City won't wait or come back for him, someone else will fill that role and I don't think he'll be very happy about that.
I doubt that sponsorship or side businesses could make much of a dent in the sort of wage rises we would be talking about. That leaves 'direct investment', which TB has already provided. Are we talking bringing new investors into the club?
Man Utds revenue dwarfs ours. Only so much of that is increased prize money, profits from their european adventures and ticket sales. The bulk of it, if I'm not wrong, is overseas income, sponsorships and the like. We'll never get to those levels, obviously, but there is surely room for growth, perhaps significant growth?
While there’s always an opportunity to grow revenues through sponsorship I think - to put it into context Man Utd have 31.4M followers on Twitter, we have 500k. 500k to many companies won’t be that much. Man Utd commercial team is huge and a pretty serious outfit. My former employer has a deal with them and it was 18 months to get it done - and it was pretty small in terms of £
It’s alleged the Amex sponsorship is pretty low considering where we are now so perhaps that’s one angle.
I'd be very, very surprised if he is.……So Solly. Is our left wing back replacement……?!
Would seem weird now, wouldnt it, if we were to go with another sponsor at some point (if Amex money is low relatively speaking), the Amex name is now so synomous with our stadium and the training centre.
I'd be very, very surprised if he is.
I'd be very surprised if we ever name a figure that we want, thus capping ourselves. It's down to the other party to use their imagination and prove how much he is worth to them.
He was first choice left wing back in 20/21 and did a pretty good job.
One thing is for sure though, he won’t be playing on the left of a back 3 or at left back.
But I’m certain will be bringing in a replacement for Cucu in this window, whether he leaves soon or in a year or so.
Not publicly, of course. But is Bloom that hands on with deals? He has hired people to run the club, so surely internally there's a figure, and there's always potential that that gets out, at the very least if there are conversations between the club and the player regarding what each side consider a fair offer.
If we are talking about not wanting to get a reputation for holding players to contracts when a big move is on the table, so that we can entice decent players in their place with the promise of moving on to a bigger opportunity, then players or their representatives are going to want to have an idea of what the club consider a fair offer. It is, I assume, how we get so many of those 'the club is thought to want...' stories from more reputable sources. It seemed to be quite common knowledge that the club were after 50m for White, hard to imagine that was just mass guessing that turned out to be right.

As has been mentioned so often before, not quite sure why we are not all over Maxwell Cornet?, great left sided player, can play LB/LWB, in attack and scores goals.... and you'd think a possibility now Burnley relegated.
Could do with someone who can slot right in if/when Marc leaves, rather than a rough diamond with potential.
